Installed the 77KICK42 front speaker set earlier this year and was amazed by the difference in lows and highs. Santa brought me some 77KICK41's that I installed in the rear doors, and the same thing, it made a huge difference in the lows and highs. These speakers are the ones that your Premium stereo should have came with from the beginning. I have so much bass now, I actually have set the EQ to minus out some of it. The highs are very crisp now, just like they should be been all along. Don't be afraid to upgrade to these speaker sets. Plug and play, real easy to do.

I am very satisfied with my purchase with this setup as well.

Now the only problem is almost all my doors rattle and my passenger tweeter vibrates and pretty much all of the automatic window/door lock things vibrate. Have to tape some **** down haha.

I have a 2010 Ram Sport...and I hate the speakers. I'd love to upgrade mine. What should I get and how difficult is it to get the door covers off to do the upgrade? or can I do the swap without taking the door off?

Posted n another thread but this is the one I thought I was posting in !@#

Just to be clear, this was installed in a "premium 9 speaker" alpine system as an upgrade and not the regular sound system?
I installed just the 3.5 in the dash and that alone made a huge difference - may have to go for these as well!

That pretty much covers the installation. I was scared to death popping grilles and door panels off of my new truck, but everything went well. As long as your door holds a 6 x 9 speaker, get the 77KICK41's. More lows and highs than you ever dreamed of, and no adapters, at least for me, plug and play!

I currently have the factory alpine speakers in my 12 sport crew. I'm also ready to pull the trigger on this same setup. I found the 77kick42 and 77kick41 from dodge dealerships on eBay.

I have a couple questions/concerns though... I'm also planning in the future to add an aftermarket 4 or 6 channel amp for the high and mids. Will these speakers be able to handle aftermarket amp power, or will I be stuck buying more speakers at that time? I'm trying to decide if I should go with this easy plug and play option or something beefier to handle an aftermarket amp if these can't.

Also, has anyone found a suitable replacement for the 2.5" headliner speakers?

Placed my order last night for kicker speakers on ebay...

Decided to go with:

40CS354 (dash) 2 pair to get 3 speakers :flipthebird: Thanks Dodge!
40CS654 (front doors)
40CS6934 (rear doors)
$214 shipped for everything

Also ordered the appropriate adapter plugs and mounting brackets (for the 6.5" up front) from Crutchfield for another $52 shipped.

For now I'm just upgrading the speakers and later these speakers will give me the flexibility to add an amp. I couldn't find any info on whether the 77kick41/42 would handle an aftermarket amp. Even tried contacting kicker directly and got no response.

Planning to install everything next weekend

Edit:
Kicker responded (sort of) to my question about the 77kick41/42 handling an aftermarket amp. The answer was an immediate suggestion of different model speakers.... sooo... I guess that means the answer is NO

Headliner speakers

I replaced the 2.5 speakers with JBL GTO 19T tweeters. Sounds good.. Nice rear fill. Not a dramatic improvement but adds some high frequency fill.

Heads up on replacing the front 6x9s. The oem system has these tuned for mid range -- I put in JBL 938 6x9s -- not a notiicable difference from stock.
The rears are tuned for full range and you will get a noticable improvement.

I also installed the kicker SRAM sub upgrade. Better sub, more power BUT it is not not tamed power. The amp crossover is set at 200hz way to much mid rage "noise" . Also, as another member posted today, the enclosure does not have any polly fill which results in flabby bass. I am going to try filling the box to see if that yields tighter bass.

after replacing my "alpine" dash speakers today, I have a hard time believing these are alpine speakers at all. A little disappointing, but much better highs with the aftermarket speakers!

Well it is the lowest bidder gets to build the stereo even if its not their speakers.

My only issue with that is they advertise it as alpine 9 speaker stereo. If the speakers are some generic Chinese speaker then your not getting what is being paid for

you would be surprised how often that happens in the consumer market place. Heck back in the day they didn't even make their own high end component set. I want to say Scan or Seas made them.

I 100% agree it happens all the time...doesn't make it right. And for all I know these could be an "alpine" speaker.

Thanks for the info. Duh... I didn't even think about putting tweets in the headliner. No one, and I mean NO ONE makes a car audio 2.5" speaker. I searched online all day yesterday for a suitable replacement to no avail. So tweets it is... Thanks again
