looking to upgrade the door and dash speakers in my 13 ram crew cab, it has the alpine system, im not looking for a top of the line system just better lol, plan for speakers are kicker 3.5 for dash, kicker 6x9's for rear doors, front doors im up in the the air on same 6x9's or 6.5's with 6x9 to 6.5 adapter plates, any thoughts on going 6.5 or 6x9 in front? will get kicker upgrade amp to keep it simple, ive read somewhere about disconnecting other speaker used in surround? needed or recommended? also going from 2 ohm speakers to 4 ohm speakers crutchfield's site says you will notice lower volume levels, is this very noticeable? last will be sub still up in the air on the kicker/mopar upgrade or a different custom setup using single 10 fox box and whatever sub/amp combo I come up with, I like the keep it simple fact of the kicker mopar unit but for the price I can get a better setup, I find the factory alpine not all that bad so ill figure that out when the time comes, thanks in advance

If you do the Kicker upgrade, you'd have to remove 100% of the Alpine.

Kicker upgrade will hands down be the easiest upgrade for plug and play. From there you can get pretty wild. I am a fan of 6.5s they have always been a lot cleaner sounding to me, but thats me. You will hear a volume drop but idk the alpine system very well so how much of a drop is up in the air. Soundqubed has a pretty decent deal going on for their sub and amp combos today if you are interested like right now for them. Good luck with your build and go out and listen to different setups if you can.

Edit I stand corrected on kicker upgrade being plug and play.

ya the kicker upgrade sub still needs power wire ran, the speaker amp is plug and play, would you suggest 6.5's for rear doors also? so 2 3.5's for dash, front doors, rear doors, and disconnect whatever's left for speakers?

Honestly I wouldn't touch the rear doors at all, I sat in a 2014 w/o the alpine stereo and all I heard were dash speakers while sitting in the back. Stick with the fronts and down the road upgrade if you think its needed. I also wouldn't be afraid of running ground and power wires in these trucks there is so much room to work with when seats are out. It is also nice that the seats take a grand total of ten minutes to take out and put back in.

ya im not afraid to run the wires that's for sure lol, I put amps, subs and speakers in my previous vehicles, this one im just not going all out like I used to, don't care for people to here my music a block away, just looking for a better sound with a tad more bass in it, ill fallow your directions of swapping the dash and front doors first, do you recommend bass blockers for the dash?

I think the alpine system EQ's bass out of those speakers but for how cheap they are I would have a pair on hand anyways. 3.5's are generally a glorified tweeter so there is that to remember. Everything is just so easy to work with on this truck I would always be open to just trying it with and without just to see how you like it.

Have fun, and good luck. A significant upgrade is not cheap, nor easy. The easiest, and best for you would be the Mopar Kicker upgrade. All other aftermarket speakers will make little difference due to the frequency cut-offs at the OE amp, and horrible design of the system.

If you do go aftermarket, dash speakers make the most difference. I wouldn't bother with the door speakers unless you went all out (amps, processors, etc).

upgrading with the alpine system isn't great. In my 2011 alpine system the all the speakers are filtered. Front doors are mid to low, rear doors are mid to high, Dash is highs, roof are surround highs and then the sub. I upgraded my doors and sorta improved the sound. I wish I had the non-alpine system since the doors would have been full range and sound a lot better. The sub/amp upgrade was the only improvement in my setup. I kept my Mygig radio because of the hard drive built in.

I would suggest but cost a lot is to bypass the alpine system and redo it all.

ya not looking for significant upgrade just an upgrade, think ill start with the sub upgrade then do what I feel necessary for speakers, im thinking 10" kicker cvx, fox box, and kicker cx600.1 amp should be more then enough for what im after with this truck for bass

as for the rest of the speakers if you keep the stock alpine amp do not get too high of wattage speakers because it won't be as loud. Mine are 150w rms each and I noticed its not as loud as it should be. I should have went with 50-100w rms speakers.
