I need help. I recently bought a 1982 dodge D150

Bought it off action.

It had a piece broken in the ignition. It's a piece that when you turn on ignition switch it pulls a rod that goes to the bottom of the steering wheel.

The previous owner , I'm guessing he just pulled the rod to start it?

I managed to find the piece to fix it. Called. Ignition Sector and gear repair.

I replaced it. And reinstalled the rod where it's supposed to go.

Now I got everything back together.
The truck starts and all but it doesn't turn off. When I turn the key to off position it does nothing.

Did I do something wrong? IMG_20201124_081833.jpg IMG_20201124_081848.jpg

Ok I posted a few weeks ago about having problems with my steering switch.

Well after checking everything I found that the steering was broken from the casing.

I went to my local junkyard and found one from an 1987 basically the same except this one isn't tilt. I pulled it. And came home today to install it. And it seems like Its a little too long. Just a few inches.

How can I deal with that issue?

Also another issue is that when I turn the key. It doesn't come back like most cars that have keys.

When you start the car it should come back a little. This one doesn't. It stays on the same spot where you leave it at IMG_20201213_194830.jpg

Change the lower steering shaft. They are different lengths tilt vs non-tilt.

There is a roll pin to drive out, and they are usually firmly stuck.

The tilt column in a Dodge is from Chevy. I think I posted in your other thread about the spring that may be installed wrong.
