I'll tell you guys why I don't trust the techs at the local dealer. This dealer is 5 minutes from my house. They had my truck for a MONTH because the radio and dash was staying on after shutting the truck off, opening and closing the door. So it would kill the battery. Along with that, I knew this was going to happen because the stereo would stop playing all sound no matter what input was used. They had it, like I said, a month. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. The day I brought it home, the stereo stays on. I disconnected the battery. Shortly after it happened again, so disconnected battery. Replaced headunit and it has not happened again.
My 2012 Charger was having an issue where you would be driving, it would go into neutral and dash would say place shifter in park. Once you did that, it would not go back into drive and you have to shut the car off. Once you shut the car off, it won't start for 5-10 minutes. This happened 3-4 times in about 5-6 months. My daughter is driving the car for college almost 2 hours away. Take it to the dealer, they say it needs a new transmission. They buy out the unlimited warranty I have on it and say the warranty is done. I use the money towards a used transmission with 80k on it, lifetime warranty on parts and labor through the junk yard. They install it along with some other new parts. Drive it about 2 weeks and the same issue happens. Another 2 weeks, happens again. Take it back to dealer and they say there are no codes so they can't diagnose what the issue is. To my knowledge, the first time it was there, there were no codes and when they drove it, it did not have the issue. They decided that it needed replaced when they dropped the pan and looked. This time, same events, can't figure out what's wrong. So now I no longer have the unlimited warranty and have a car that may or may not shift when its supposed to.
When the trans was replaced they said that they noticed it would need control arms on both sides for inspection when it came due. I did not have them replace them.
Icing on the cake. I have take the car there for inspection since 2016 when I moved back to PA. There has been a small crack in the windshield in the very corner by where the inspection stickers go since they started inspecting it. No where near your line of sight or the area that PA says if there is a crack it fails. This year, the new service manager I am dealing with for this, sends me a text saying he can tell me right away it will fail for that crack and it needs a windshield. I picked the car up, paid $150 for them to say that they couldn't find anything wrong with the trans and took it somewhere else that inspected it no issues. Didn't need control arms. Needed absolutely nothing.
There is another dealer that is 45 minutes away, but is part of the same dealer group. I have bought 2 vehicles from them. I can take it to them as they are a little better. But only a little better.
