There are a few areas of chrome on my step bars that need some cleaning and/or polishing. I've tried soap & water, some Quick Detailer and lots of microcloth scrubbing with no success.

It looks like hard water stains with some dirt mixed in. I'm not surprised and I assume they have been there for a while, even before I purchased the truck in July.

Got any recommendations on how to remove this stuff without scratching the chrome?

Thanks for any suggestions you may care to make.

Wenol is some of the best metal polish I have ever used. I have used it on chrome for years.

Might be worth trying some really aggressive contact cleaner first like brake clean or a paint thinner too. Thankfully it's on the chrome so you aren't going to hurt the finish.

Might even try your 3m rubber wheel that we talked about the other day.
