It seems like at least once a week a new post comes up regarding catch cans or MPG etc. Should these over and over again posts be made sticky so the same answers don't have to ne posted over and over again? And besides catch cans and MPG, what topics do you think need to be sticky so new members have a ready source of information for common topics. :favorites13:

I agree we need to stop all these repeat posts, but honestly if we all used the search functions a little better and stopped being in a hurry and took the time to research old posts we wouldn't have an issue.

To semi-hijack the post, I think breaking the Gen4 section into 1500 and 2500/3500 sub categories would be beneficial.

Yea people like to be spoonfed. Either that or they dont know about/how to use the search funtion and get relevant results.
But yeah catch cans, CAIs, MPGs, what muffler should i buy, and how do i diablosport? Should all have stickys. The first post would have a FAQ and then members would be able to continue the disscussion. When other threads are created that could be pertinent to the sticky it will be up to a mod to decide if it gets merged. Because it is possible some future questions may be unique enough to merit its own thread.

I agree but it happens on every fourm really. What's really shocking is people who can barely use the Internet or post pics. So, many people like that wouldn't know the forums had a search function.

Now a little knowledge for you guys. Most v bulletin forums come up in Google searchs, so by just using Google many tipocs will come up from this forum.

Yup, it's on every forum. I belong to over a dozen forums. On the car forums the begging to be spoon fed is the worst. Not bothering to look or search.

Even with stickies no one will...

Hey guys can you tell me what tires will fit my truck with no lift and stock wheels? What tires are on my truck now? And can I use wood blocks to level it you think?

It'll happen regardless if they are stickied or not. The best part about this forum though is that these members are actually fairly nice about all this. I'm a member on a Springfield XD forum and those guys are straight up *****. If you ask a question that has been talked about before.

I think some stickies and/or a newbie forum is needed. It may not totally stop all the repetitive questions, but it would help some, especially if you limit newbies posts/replies to the newbie section for the first X days and/or X posts.

In the end, keeping relevant technical information is what makes a forum extremely valuable.

For instance, I am part of a hard core Challenger forum where questions about catch cans and CAI's will get you lynched, lol. However, troubleshooting a supercharger, etc is right up their alley and you will be hard pressed to find better quality responses.

I love it because it's unmonitored and full of great technical info. Keeps me going back.

I give those guys so much crap when it comes to the mpg thing....they just don't get it, and they think their truck is special in that they can pull out some extra mpg over everybody else and it just gets in my nervs. it's like you got a truck, deal with it.

How about 2 suggestions.

1. Newbies can only reply to post...and not start any until they post like 25-50 post. Then they can start their own post.

2. Bring up the "how to increase mpg" question ( without any kind of valid information) the new thread gets automatically locked and user is warned to use the search button first. There are times that it's valid, like during towing, or long haul trips, or after specific mods like a tuner..at least those are reasons to ask.

What do you think?
