I have a 2012 Ram 1500 with stock radio, everything on radio works except the am/fm which will sometimes work great then just go to static, then a little later start again etc...its random can be sitting in driveway and this will occur.
Any ideas on what would make the am/fm only have this problem?
thanks for your ideas

If you can, investigate the connection to antenna and head unit if possible

First WELCOME to the group.. I would start with checking the antenna connection and all other connections.. May just be a loose antenna connection. If all connections are good it may be inside the radio and you will be SOL :O Please post what you find

To get the radio out, pop off the little tray up top and take out the 2 torx screws. Then pull the whole trim straight back. You will have to disconnect the ac plug and one other. You may have the knob transmission plug there too. If you disconnect that, make sure you do not turn the truck on even to accessory. It will throw a code. Then it's four 7 mm screws I think on the corners of the radio. The blue wire with the weird plug should be fm antenna.

Hi ducrydr,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.
