Stolen Key, Stuck in Ft. Meyers

So today while I was visiting a friend, my keys were stolen at the pool. Yes I should have been more careful but honestly who expects that. People are ****. Stuck in Ft Meyers right now, what can I do? Called dodge dealership .5 mile away and they said they couldn’t do anything till Monday. Do I have any other options?

Locksmith sounds like your only other option

If you have roadside assistance on your insurance or AAA that would help you.
Otherwise call a local locksmith and see if they can help you

Thinking locksmith is my only option. I’m on the phone with insurance right now to see what they can do. Kind of ridiculous I can’t find anyone in the apartment complex to ask about a lost & found.

I Believe I would be watching my truck like a hawk tonight cause chances are they will come back tonight in the area where they got they keys and will be searching p lots not all that hard to find it now day's with key fobs and panic buttons

Oh I agree 100%. It’s right outside my buddies apartment and I can see it out the window. I am not taking this lightly whatsoever.

Unfortunately I have 0 ways to get in. However, a locksmith is on the way right now to help me out hopefully. So problem should be resolved other than the missing key. I’ll probably do your exact idea once I have a way to get in.

Might be prudent to opt for a new ignition switch & keys after you get in. Or maybe it can be programmed with a different code. The thief can get your truck on the next visit otherwise.
A smart thief might figure out which vehicle it is, and if there's house keys too could Google the plate & possibly get your home address.
Something to consider.

if yours is the electronic key like mine the locksmith should be able to remove the old key code so the old one will no longer work should but do not know 100% I was a locksmith but the cost of equipment for all these new style keys I just could not justify buying the stuff to get into it. Not enough work in my area so lockout calls wound up being my main pay but calls like that they need you now not later and with it not bringing in enough to live on had to let go for other jobs

Those are both good things to consider. I’ll ask about that because that’s something to be weary of. I live 3.5 hours away from the area so that could deter some people but not all I feel.

A lot of Mobile Locksmiths now carry new FOBS & a machine to program them

ACE Hardware carries new FOBs & they do have the programming equipment

If you bought a new FOB, but need to get it programmed local to you
In my area most locksmiths will program your FOB for about $90.
I found one that would do it for $45.

After the fact, but just a good FYI .... If I drive on a vacation, or even a short trip, I always take the spare keys/fob .... Ya never know .... And no, I don’t leave em in the truck .... Lol

I also take the spare Fob with me, but if the Ram is actually stolen, the spare Fob would be in my tool box in the bed & it would be stolen too
The tool box is under a hard folding tonneau cover

I carry my spare fob in my vest pocket.
Having it anywhere in/on the truck makes no sense.
Truck goes away, so do the keys.

My wife and I each confirm that the other is carrying a fob/key for whatever vehicle we are traveling in before we start out. It has paid off.

Having been divorced 2X. I can tell you with certainty a locksmith is much cheaper than a wife with a spare key.

Well, I hear you, but we have stuck it out for 35+ years, and while it is far, far from perfect, I have full confidence we will persist until the end.

For us it is based on our Christian beliefs, so divorce or any relations outside our marriage is not considered an option for us.
