I made this account specifically to see if anybody could help me in solving an issue I'm having. There's nothing I could find using the search function so I thought I'd create a new thread.
I've had had a problem with my Ram for two years or so now, and it's fairly odd. While driving if I take my foot off of the gas it dies, but that's not all. Sometimes it doesn't die, sometimes it does. Sometimes as soon as I start the truck unless I put my foot on the gas it dies. Then once I've thrown it into park the RPMs while lower and raise back up (sometimes).
This has lead to me having to drive with two feet, because if my RPMs go low enough it dies. Now, my family has thrown a lot of time and money into solving this problem. The check engine light DOES NOT come on. We had the transmission rebuilt recently as well, and there's roughly 140k miles on the rest of the truck and I believe it's a 94? I can't recall right now.
Every time we take it to the shop they'll give it a tune-up and change plugs and wires and so-on, and the problem will go away for a day or two and while driving the RPMs will drop and the truck will die almost causing an accident. We've recently had an acceleration tube cleaned? I'm not a mechanic and not entirely sure the name of the tube but the mechanic ( a family friend ) said that it was so gunked up that he was surprised it ran at all. Sure enough for the first few days it ran well then suddenly started dying.
-On a side note, if I rev up the engine and floor it the truck won't die for awhile. As well as the RPMs don't move to often while I'm driving it. They seem to pretty much stay in the same spot despite me accelerating unless I've slammed the petal to the ground.
TL;DR My truck dies when I take my foot off of the gas and nothing has permanently fixed the problem
