im pretty sure the whine hes referring to is the kenne bell/maggie whine. a procharger does this but sounds more like a jet than a whine.

x2

Centrifugal superchargers dont whine per say. It's more of a whoosh sound.

The whine comes from the supercharger rotors compressing the air. Depending on the blower, some have 3 or 4 lob rotors and some curl at different angles.

The newer TVS blowers seem to be not as loud as the old eaton and even the whipple/kb blowers.

BTW
I love my blower WHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well,......I found the answers that I was looking for in this thread.
Lots of great info. I wanted to supercharge my new Ram Sport 4X4 when I got it, but I don't think that will be an option. lol Too many variables can go wrong like the transmission and the rear gears. I would love a roots type blower, but no one makes one for us poor Ram owners. Ford trucks have Roush, which is a roots type blower. A roots blower is more instant, not to say a centrifical isn't awesome.
And yes the TVS blowers are a little quieter than the Whipples. My Roush has the 2.3 TVS and is pretty quiet. Once in a great while you can hear a slight whine in the cooler temps. Sometimes changing the cai helps achieve that whine, like with a JLT Big Air cai.
