It is a problem. Not only will any extra you carry freeze but if you park outside up here it freezes basically from late November through February. Some trucks have a warmer I hear. What a dumb product for the northern climate.

It freezes at 12F, and apparently the system will defrost and get back on line...

The entire system has heaters to thaw the DEF. If I remember correctly, the DEF system disables usage in an emmisions capacity at -15°F

This is how the feds will reduce/eliminate diesel for non commercial use.

or even commercial use, that truck could easily be gas with it's load. Only big rigs or heavy bob cats need a diesel.

What the government has done to diesels is why I will never own one.

In my province you can delete all that BS but in others you can not.

I imagine a day not too far off when the Canadian federal government steps in and makes it illegal for the entire country to bypass any OEM emissions equipment, especially if captain ****** (Justin Trudeau) gets another 4 years to F-up our lives in October.

I wonder if there are any truthful car sales reps selling diesels, it would go something like this, "yeah diesels are great the new ones will turn your exhaust into a beach full of sand restricting flow and ruining the engine about 10x times earlier then without. but they are still great. LOL. Did you catch what that guy says about bio deisel? guys, if you are gonna run bio diesel upgrade to a stainless steel tank.

what would be better, stainless or aluminum?

Yet, I know hotshotters who have run hundreds of thousands of miles with stock DEF Cummins with no emissions related downtime. One I stay in touch with put almost 400K on his last one before getting his current C&C, which is a 2018, and it has over 150K on it already with just normal maintenance. I am not saying it's a wonderful thing, but many of those videos out there are from tuners and shops who market deletes.

If you run it on the highway like that, it isn’t that bad. The deletes are better suited for guys that drive them around town. If you work a diesel you won’t need to delete.

Trucks like that are what my Dad drove in the oil patch and they went through turbos all the time. I suspect they were choking out.
