I am disappointed in the SRT oil for Hemi395 sake!
I just shows that it is more then just a large does of Moly that keeps the ticking at bay!
I wouldn't say 200 ppm a large dose of moly , doesn't PYB have more moly ?

@ SyN did you confirm the molybdenum in PUP was Tri-Nuclear Moly ?

LoL! Find me 5 shelf bought oils that have a higher PPM of Moly then SRT?

SRT = 241ppm to me that is a large amount when compared to 20 other brands of oil stocked @ WM!

There will be No one within Shell or Pennzoil that will come right out and tell any of us what exactly is in the base oil or additive package. Only a very expensive VOA might come close.

Gena: only told me Pennzoil does not skimp on any of the additives within the formulation of PP or PUP. I asked her exclusively about the Moly being of the best quality being the Tri-Nuclear. She claimed once again: We use only the best Quality additives!
I took that for what it was & silently walked away!

This conversation will be good!

I'm still waiting on my manifold bolts to break! This Ram will be gone!

I could be completely wrong on this, but I haven't really heard of any 2013+ Rams having broken manifold bolts....

Of course now mine will probably break tomorrow lol

I know I'm pretty bummed about this. I really wanted this oil to work for me...

I stayed open minded for a long time, handing out a lot of love for many brands. But H395's journey was a full circle trip for me. So I wont apologize anymore for knowing Redline is the best oil for the 5.7. With the constant Lifter and Cam issues, keep that butter smooth engine running butter smooth if you can. Even a little tick you don't need to have is a risk imo.

This owner is a 2014: I know I have seen a post from a 2015 owner who already thought he had issues...

Ya know it's pretty dam pathetic when the replacement bolts do the same thing over time. No one is intelligent enough to use upgraded bolts!
(Talking about the Manufacturing & Dealerships)...

Or even redesign the cast iron manifolds to header style.

I will post my experience as of late. I had a tick with was a napa branded filter and 5w30 pup shortly after I bought the truck. I decided to get a case of 0w40 srt oil and a rp filter. I drained my fill completly and strained it. Then added 4 back in plus 3qts of the new srt oil. On initial start up it seemed better but the following day after sitting at work for 8 plus hours on start up it had a worse tick than b4 but literally for only 2-3 seconds. Since that moment it has seem to become quiter and quiter the more I drive it. And from my ears no tick at all on start up. I do seem to have a slight hesitation when cranking and the was that b4 but I don't think it's oil related. I will check back in when I am around or over 500 miles on this fill

Fantastic choice of oil & filter Sir !

Welcome to the Ram Forum & especially this thread .
Thank you Sir for your military service (Army Here )

Couple questions for you .

Was your 2013 5.7L hemi ticking or loud ?
What type of oil & filter have you ran in the past ?
What do you do with your truck ...tow , haul , offroad , 4x4 a lot ?

It's never too late to use a High quality oil & filter combo like you have chosen , make sure to regularly change your air filter as well , to keep silicate levels down in your oil as they can increase wear ...kinda crazy how impurities in the air makes it into the oil .
Again welcome to the thread !

First, thanks for YOUR service.

As far as a tick, I honestly couldn't tell you if it was loud or not or if it even was ticking. I can hear the lifters but don't know if its normal operation noise or not. My ear isn't tuned enough to it.

The Ram I have now is a Sport model that I just picked up 2 weeks ago. My previous Ram, a 2013 Big Horn, when I joined the forum turned out to have fuel system issues so the dealer traded me into the Sport. The dealer put a Mopar filter on it along with Mopar oil.

Right now the truck is my DD. So really no hard use. Yet.:)
