Not fair.

They made me read the whole thread before I could ask a question...

We knew you needed that practice, thats why.

Just passed 15,000 on the truck. This run is Amsoil SS 0W-40. And still no tick. I will run this OVI another 900 miles the change. That would be about a year between changes.

Using the block heater on the very cold mornings is a huge help. My rule of thumb is anything below 20* she gets plugged in. There is a noticeable difference between when it’s plugged in and not, way easier on the motor.

100% I am trying redline 5w30 next winter. To many cold starts with no block heater. I want to see what difference it makes in ease of cranking effort and warm up time.

And most of is know the 6.4 was tested with 5w30 in the crank case. The PUP 0W40 push was a “ exclusivity push” with their friends at shell.

If you are trying red line you should go with 0w 40 it has more moly then the 5w 30

To guys running the RP 20-820, beware of the louvers on the inner tube, this one I just got from Amazon clearly is an issue as the louvers are barely punched

Do you have an image of one that is properly punched so we can see the difference?

I don't have another RP but you can see the difference to the Amsoil.

I have never seen a louvered filter with openings like the pictured RP

The SRT filter is similar on the inside, and some people have had filters just like that RP - a lot of the louvers looked too "closed".

Haha it's less than 20f basically ever morning in the winter here. I had -12f as I was leaving the house today.

Motorcraft is not the new api sn+ rc to my knowledge, but begs the question, should I get an oil that is sn+rc or stick with sn+ as long as possible? Turns out the rc stands for resource conserving, is that an oil you would choose? Me neither, if you have a di turbo, you might want to find a high moly sn+ oil and stock up. Once the have the rc throughout the marketplace, you will be outta luck like guys that should have stocked up on old diesel oil.
