Its not really the top oil on the forum.. I see the poll says Mobil 1 is.I've been running Amsoil SS 5w20 for several years now with either their filter or (when they're out) the Fram XG10060 synthetic filter.
Slick, smooth and quiet, I've used Amsoil for many years in many engines and never had problems.
AMSOIL 5W-30 is not even close in HTHS and HTFS viscosity to RedLine 5W-30. For your climate conditions (120+ Fahrenheit ambient temps), you need to run something with an HTHS north of 3.5. Of course, it's your engine, you put whatever you want in it.If I ever face another Redline 5W30 shortage, I will certainly be going Amsoil 5W30. That's what I've decided.
It's engine oil made by the biggest oil company on planet Earth, so of course, it's good. That being said, it won't protect any better or worse than any other lubricant in its class. If you like Shell/Pennzoil products and you do any real work with your truck, like towing, then look at the Pennzoil Euro line of lubes for better protection or PUP 0W-40 at the very least, as 5W-20 fuel economy oils aren't that great for a hardworking engine. What about Penzoil Ultra Platinum? Is it a good oil?

However it is a great choice, if you want a good oil for your engine.
Even the engine masters on Motortrend use Amsoil for their hotrod engines and assembled stuff. Also in every oil comparison on youtube, Amsoil always comes out on top or at least is the runner up to PUP.

No, it's not.The Hemi engine is an aberration
A parts issue that's the supplier's fault is not a design flaw. The lifter is pressure lubes and gets plenty of oil via the pushrods and lifter bores when MDS is enabled. The HEMI is not a lawnmower and Uncle Tony needs to learn a thing or two about modern HEMI engines.having a design flaw the requires bandaid oils to make it durable
I never dared to call Red Line an oil intended for race engines. Once or twice I said that it's better suited for track use, and when I did that, @Burla literally cursed me out. He went from being my friend to bullying me in a split second, over frickin motor oil. Some things you just don't forget. Red Line has their own line of racing oils, but the High-Performance oils are for street use. This is where Red Line comes in. Otherwise, it is designed and intended for race engines.
Once again, the HEMI doesn't have a design flaw, it's a parts issue. That being said, if you work that engine, better to use higher visc oil with proper HTHS of 3.5 or higher. Red Line is an excellent choice, one of the few lubricants left at a reasonable price with a decent amount of POE in it and plenty of "old-school" additives. If not for the Hemi design flaw, I would be using PUP or Amsoil, fyi.

I wonder if oils like Mobil and Pennzoil aren't so popular primarily cuz of marketing, price, and availability...We had an updated poll because the original one didnt have popular choices. The interesting thing is amsoil is number 3 and redline is number 4, redline certainly isnt 4th on any forums list except here. Like Hemimann said, it is an aberration. However, it is also a situation where you get what you pay for, there is non better, just not necessary in most stuff.

As opposed to what, a charity?Mobil is just a profit raking brand to Exxon.
The lubes you mentioned are made by the same corporations who make your fuel, who follow EPA and manufacturer guidance on fuel efficiency, who are concerned with the longevity of your vehicle and wear control for your engine. In their view, it shouldn't break too soon, but God forbid it lasts too long. You get the picture.I wonder if oils like Mobil and Pennzoil aren't so popular primarily cuz of marketing, price, and availability...
@HEMIMANN I ordered two cases of Red Line 5W-30 from them last week. They put each case of Red Line in a separate box and shipped them via FedEx from PA to NC. It took two days from when I placed my order to the time the packages were delivered to my house. They ship from multiple warehouses. Your order will ship from the closest one depending on where you are located.I don't know if these guys are legit.
Amazon, walmart online or local napa sometimes has it not always, local dealership always does, and my local oil distributer https://aidistributors.com all have it here. a&I of course only sells in 6 qt cases which is not big deal and is usually priced slightly more than amazon but a dollar or two a case. I found if you add it to your cart on Amazon and don’t buy it for a couple weeks and you might score a deal. I just scored a deal on some.Marketing for sure, they aren't the cheapest and most places have many oil choices. As for Pennzoil, they even overcome a availability shortage, as they seam to not have good distribution, but yet is the most popular on the board. But, guys do follow many specs, and for a long time mobil and many oils didnt spec their oil for hemi's, so guys got pennzoil where they could. I don't remember seeing 0w40 pennzoil anywhere on the shelf, and yet it was the only hemi specific oil and widely popular. My guess guys are just using amazon, probably the only place to get it?
not bad at all.. If they ship free, as cheap as it gets the last decade plus. That is on sale though - 20%, and the 0w30 is still 9.99 a qrt, and is still the old 0w30 as they don't have the new ones out yet according to dave.I don't know if these guys are legit. Their ads starting appearing in my online feeds a couple of months ago. Hadn't heard of them before.
I checked them out when I bought oil for spring a couple weeks ago, and their website said they were sold out with no estimate if or when they would restock. All of a sudden, they're advertising again.
$9.59 per quart (in gallon jugs) seems like a loss-leader sale price. Or maybe shipping is extra exorbitant. I didn't check it out in depth, you all might want to if you're buying soon. I just bought for $12.30 per quart, retail usually is $12.95 per quart. I don't "warehouse", so I don't care that much.
