EP and truck and suv contain alkylated napthalenes. FS 0w40 has no ester or ANs. Im shocked at that one! I knew ester was gone but cant believe theres no ANs

We started talking about di's pretty close to the beginning of this thread when they were very rare. This graph comes from car and driver on where fleets have gone. Hard to believe? Buy a Toyota non di while you can, lol? It must sound like I am a fan of Toyota these days, more so just a fan of small displacement engines and few are making them anymore.

Toyota added port injection to DI engines and alleviated the sludge/carbon problems. I wonder why the other manufacturers have yet to do so.

I know some have, but still begs the question why not just build small displacement engine in the first place and leave di for performance reasons? I just hand calculated my mileage today, real world miles on a heavily used 15 year old rav 4 = 27mpg's. I was showing my wife how long she had to drive when the fuel light comes on, she thought only 10 miles, lol. That is 27mpg and the vehicles rarely if ever sees a freeway. She does take the highway to work, but those aren't the easiest miles possible as no easy freeway miles.

Recently, the major players have REALLY upped the ante with motor oil. With a 2017, I'd try the weight called for fully synthetic, and a Dexos1, 3rd gen rating. Valvoline, Mobile 1 for examples. Wix XP filter.

good thing about what we coin poor mans redline and matches what sherm bird is saying. Dexos oil as in any oil with the dexos stamp on it can be enhanced or elevated to poor mans redline by adding 15 ounces lubegard biotech. If you buy the HD size biotech it's saves even more money and you can use on two intervals. Redline esters and moly- biotech esters and moly. As it turns out this is just for hemi's that seam to need a little something extra to assist with the lubrication issues. Most applications just dexos is a good move, but for a hemi this seams to be a popular combo.

That's why I'm changing to HPL. HPL instead of Amsoil, HPL has more esters and AN's (in SuperCar), I understood, to more simulate Red Line's base oil blend. Plenty of MoDTC in both.

Pretty clear to me the reason GDI engine makers haven't done dual injectors is cost. I hope EPA doesn't make those engines that have dual injectors wear a diaper too, cause they should be burning clean - unlike a single injector GDI engine. Toyota and Ford have come out with dual injectors, yah?

Wow got a response quick! Sounds like it's temporary because of the move to Texas.

We apologize we had a plant relocation project earlier this year and still have not b ase able to fully recover from the move and our inventory has been way behind. When we do get it out to the distributors it goes very fast due to limited availability. There is currently a little still available on our website, but it will go quick also. Yet another small item came up yesterday, Corey's truck has left over coolant psi in his lines. Changed the rad cap, problem solved. Time to check our aging radiator caps fellas.

Failed radiator cap left pressure in his lines.

  • Causes:
    • Faulty radiator cap: A faulty pressure relief valve in the radiator cap can't properly regulate pressure, leading to excessive build-up.

    • Low coolant level: When the coolant level is low, the system is more prone to air pockets and pressure build-up.

    • Blown head gasket: A damaged head gasket allows combustion gases to enter the coolant system, causing pressure to increase significantly.

    • Clogged hoses or radiator: Blockages in the coolant flow can also contribute to pressure issues.
  • Symptoms:
    • Overheating: The engine temperature gauge may indicate excessive heat.

    • Coolant leaks: Visible coolant leaks under the vehicle

    • White smoke from exhaust: A sign of combustion gases entering the cooling system, often associated with a blown head gasket

    • Pressure buildup in the coolant reservoir: The coolant level may rise significantly in the overflow tank
