its the same **** at Honda, and every manufacturer. I got into an argument with this ******* service writer and told him "I'm the customer" If I want the oil change, just do it. I couldn't believe he wouldn't write it up lol I never went back there, and I did it myself. I couldn't believe it. Subaru told me the same thing when I had bought my Sti back in the day. I asked about break in metal contaminants in the motor, or gearbox and diff fluids from fresh gears wearing in, they told me it wasn't necessary lol. something about the tolerances are different then back in the day, so there won't be a lot of break in material. idk if i believe that.

Tell them to watch this:

I have made the decision to not use my last fill of PUP 5W-30 in my Lexus; I will eventually use it up on my outdoor power equipment. The Lexus is due for an oil change, so I bought two five-gallon jugs of ESP 0W-30 at Wally's this morning and hope to get the change done this coming week.

I have contemplated moving away from PUP since I did the UOA on the PUP back in March of this year and saw first-hand what the effects of fuel dilution did to this oil. It feels good to finally have made this decision to move on to a stouter oil for my two daily drivers. Both have turbo's and one is a single injector GDI.

I did a lot of research on several different oils over the last few months and I was leaning heavily towards ESP 0W-30. But in the end, I really appreciate the comments and advice that I received here that finalized my decision. Thank you @Travis8352 and @HEMIMANN in particular.

Made my own thread on this , but was advised to ask my question here . So I found a case of redline buried in my garage . It’s got to be 5 years old . Google says redline has no shelf life , but I wanted the expert opinion here . Would it be safe to use or should I dispose of it. Haven’t opened a quart to see what the oil looks like . Thanks.
I believe they do indeed have a very long shelf life. I would be willing to bet Burla has Redline on the shelf at least that old. IMO you are good to use it.

no kidding I'm so confident when I buy redline I use it and still have stock back in garage 15 years old. I have zero concern. I have a remodel gone wrong blocking access, so it isn't worth the effort when the stuff doesn't seam to age. The longest to date I used was 6 years so I cant say for sure, the plan this winter is to get the garage back, but this summer was the best summer forever for me and work, man this perfect weather I killed maybe 50% of the honey do list. stay tuned

Something I found for us Pentastar people....
Wow great info here! Looking at this I'm kinda thinking 0w20 is the way to go with daily driven Pentastars? Our Grand Cherokee has had nothing but Amsoil SS 0w20 with one OCI with SS 0w30. I thought about switching to 0w30 going forward but after reading this I might just stick with the 0w20.

Every time I drive the Grand Cherokee, I try to get above 3000ish RPM at least once because thats when the oil pump goes wide open and puts out 75psi. I figure thats when oil will get where it doesn't normally get to under average driving conditions.

Also good to know that the Grand Cherokee being a 2020 has all the updates and fixes. I know they have oil cooler issues but again I think a lot of those are because people overtighten the oil filter housing. Other than that, the newer Pentastars are pretty bulletproof TBH.

I think I'm still going with HPL SC 0W-30 this time. I'm tired of switching back and forth between 5W-30 and 0W-30 with Red Line 5W-30 being too stiff in the cold winters we have here.

Oh, Bob...........

Just listen to these know-nothings that don't read data or evidence:

"There were some guys that hoped that it would prevent lifter failure, until it didn't, because of course it's a mechanical QC issue, something that can't be solved with an oil. Most HEMI's that tick do so because of leaking exhaust manifolds, this is incredibly common on the trucks.

That said, there's nothing wrong with Redline, it's generally regarded as a good oil, even if they are now owned by P66. The oils are generally heavy for their grade (their 5w30 is like a heavy Euro 5w30, close to a 5W-40 for example) with high HTHS, so just by virtue of being heavier, they may provide some "quieting"."

This, by a Bob site member since 2008. What a bunch of arrogant, unknowledgable, hateful, spiteful dudes over there. Glad to be banned.

Since I'm north of you, your link brought me to the Amazon Canada site. Check the price... $199 CDN for 6 quarts, lol. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0041EHSPQ...066133440&sr=8-1&linkCode=gg2&tag=ramforum-20

For me it is simple, if one oil ticks and one doesn't, I cant tell you long term if it is viable eventhough it has proven to be in many of our trucks, I still chose the oil that doesn't tick. And after seeing Eds incredible journey, anyone eager to do a dyi cam job? Hemi Honey is a viable option, nothing is 100%, it's a fact many cam jobs (not eds thank God) but others still tick after new cam lifters. Avoid until you get a CEL for misfire, until then you have options.

They would never remotely accept forum test results even 100's of hemi's, unless, wait for it, that brand supported the forum. Furthermore if it is a "threat to their brands" no way will the arm chair warriors allow any info without tanking the thread. It is too bad as far as I am concerned, that Amsoil wasn't the oil that did all this, that way at least BITOG would have jumped their tails onboard with it. At that time amsoil ruled the roost over there now HPL. Anyway, these trucks are no longer new and you aren't going to get 100 random trucks again for any testing, so it is all history in the same ilk as the GM filter test. Good news as of this point, it is something a ticking hemi owner might try.

gm study went byby? I wonder if the public is allowed to test anything anymore. Someone gonna sue you if they don't like your results. Same thing with biotech versus mos2 video.

Didn't mean to stir you guys up, just that they haven't relented and the site is more toxic than ever, is all.

So why was I there? I googled Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 looking for best pricing and ended up reading some info about it. Thought Bob's had some relevant info, but not much. Then ran across the idiots yet again.

Peace ✌️ take that v*a*l*i*u*m!
I be buying some 'o dat stuff tomorrow for the Mazdas - Wally World sale. Then HPI SC 0W-30 for the Hemi.
