Good to know! I will do that, I'm going to do it on a day off with nothing to do and let them all drain for a couple hours. My two questions are.. I'm assuming you want the oil to be warm and then it takes 1.5 quarts right? My manual wasn't specifying the quantity

Yeah you want to get everything up to operating temp before draining it. It helps it flow out better and it also stirs up any contaminants in the fluids so they will drain out as well. I would also put it in 4Auto when you go for a drive before.

Yep the 44-44 takes about 1.5 quarts. Fill it up until it runs out of the fill hole. And like @Burla said, make sure you don't overtighten the drain/fill plugs. Also a good idea to use some thread sealant on the plugs.

The diffs are easy on these trucks because FCA was kind enough to put drain plugs in.

Also ALWAYS pull the fill plug first. You want to 100% make sure that it can be removed before draining the fluid out........

There's only one c+, I think redline misnamed it, they should have called it A+. :)

Thank you for all that info. I'll be sure to get it up to temp and engage the 4 auto. As well as everything else you mentioned.

When I get the oil's i'll report back if there's any issues.

Thanks guys, appreciate it

All the redline I see is $20 a quart, looking for a solid vendor with quick lead time.

The Amsoil website does a good job of presenting specs and quantities for all components as there are several different types and viscosities to pay attention to in the Ram.

https://www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-...kup/5-7l-8-cyl-engine-code-t-ezh-1/us-volume/

I just recently changed my T-Case with the Amsoil ATF (red) at 50k. I'll change the factory fill in the Transmission around 70k.

You can sign up as a member for cheap and get wholesale prices delivered to your door and considering there products are designed for long interval with good protection it's cost effective.

DISCLAIMER, not looking to start an oil war and I will probably try Redline on the engine next go around. I for sure like Amsoil for driveline components. Usually in engines or in my experience you need to try a few different brands and viscosities to get the engine dialed in.

I stuck with the mopar snake oil because of the powertrain warranty. I will definitely switch to C+ after 5years.

The few uoa's of amsoil tranny fluid look real good, clearly a top choice. Zero shear numbers which is what all of these modern transmissions ask for, low starting viscosity that doesn't shear, and amsoil fits that to a t.

I just did the front & rear diff and the tcase all amsoil with the preferred customer discount for about $100 shipped to the house. Only have about 4k miles sincethe swap but no issues here seen amsoil and redline being the preferred fluids based off uoa on different sites. Personally have had good luck with the amsoil and is a little cheaper for me to get to the house so i would say which ever is easier for you to get is what i would go with cant go wrong either way.

Plus amsoil has diff fluid in bag like containers now which made it easy to do not having to use a pump out of the quart bottles as the front diff leaves very little room.

both Amsoil and Redline are good products, would not be afraid to use either in the T case, also both are a lot less expensive than the mopar stuff.

I never saw that before. Fluid in a bag! That's awesome for us laying on the floor under a jacked/stands truck.

Thanks for that tip!

When I had my independent repair shop, the manufacturers started coming out with new formulations and a couple of times I went to the parts houses, talked to my old trusted parts guys and they told me "Don't worry, this stuff we always sell you will be JUST FINE!"
Well, it wasn't fine, bit me on the ass hard, got to do a couple of free service jobs and started talking to the younger more updated lads !!
I am reading my 1957 Labor and Parts manual now and it tells me the labor to replace the V8 motor with Powerflite trans is a whopping $58.50. Labor was $5/hr then.
Most stuff costs more now. Quality costs even more.
Have a great day !!

Those easy packs are a damn good idea. Makes filling a diff or tcase very easy[emoji106]

I was really sad when I ordered my Amsoil hoping for the bagged diff fluid and the old bottles showed up. I did front and rear diffs and transfer case at the 20k mile mark with a combo of Redline and Amsoil. I think the Redline diff fluid for the rear end has limited slip additive in it already so it was a bit cheaper and less work for me.

Unless you go through deep water I wouldn’t do it anymore than every 30k miles. I only use Amsoil Signature Series ATF. 16.00 a quart give or take. Follow OEM change recommendations. Doing it any sooner (unless severe duty) is ******* $$$ down the drain.

Alright so I’ve changed my rear diff fluid out and swapped my engine oil out for redline 5w30 from redline 5w20 and when I went to change the transfer case fluid I thought I had the correct bit but I don’t and I can’t figure out what is needed. Can anyone tell me what the correct bit is to change the transfer case fluid? It would be greatly appreciated

I did not try the socket extension. I’ll give that go tonight and see. Yessir I don’t want to make that mistake. No rush I plan on doing it Wednesday but if I need to order the part I want to give myself time.

I think I did need to get an off size but I can't find it. See if socket extension work, if not you will have to go get it. If I remember, I had to go to hardware store and try 3 sizes before I found the one that worked. They let me take all three out and buy the one that fit. I just can't find it at the moment, sorry.
