2024 Ram with dual tailgate opening option. The cursed engineer who designed a tailgate that won’t open if the truck is running obviously never owned a pickup. How blisteringly stoopid

Because people will try to drive with it open causing all sorts of problems when they swing shut. Probably also because if a door swings open accidentally in traffic it can create more problems. Blame it on people who wouldn't think things through before doing. But see why it is a pain. Save us from ourselves.

Makes no sense You cannot open tailgate truck running. Something fu-bar in the electronics like maybe bcm needs flash. Like on remote start if U pop the Hood truck shuts off but that is a safety thing. Something being silly.

Same here with my 2022. I have to be in park for the overhead button to drop the tailgate. If it is open, either traditional or in barn door mode, engine running or not, all I get is a DIC message.
