Taillights

Hey I'm looking at buying some used LED taillights and a guy selling one pair says they fit 3rd gen dodge rams and a different guy selling different taillights says they fit 2003-2007 dodge rams.
Shouldn't the lights that they guy says fit 2003-2007 still fit my 2002 cause they are the same gen? Or as the years went on did dodge change the shape or size of taillights a little bit?

If I remember right from shopping for tail lights it's 2002-2006 and 2007-2008.

The 3rd gens are all the same shape, just a different housing. So the early/late lights can be swapped out. They just look different from the factory. At least that's been by experience.

The electrical connectors are different, the 2003 thru 2006 have a long bar that contains 3 light bulbs, the 2007 thru 2009 have the rectangular plug, the bulbs are all contained in the tail light housings. You can tell the difference in the photo's I attached.
