I thought this was true! But if you believe Scotty Kilmer. It isn't! Bummer! Another reason to stick with a generation that has a long production run. Makes the 4th gen look better and better for anyone that likes to keep their vehicle a long time. He also makes the point about the computerization of cars and how that will play into future repairs. Not a encouraging trend there.

So it's 3 years after the last production year for the 4th gen RAM. If they build it till 2023 then 2026 would be it. But the aftermarket and used parts market should go on for a long time after that I hope. If they do build them to 23 then that would be a 14 year production run. That would match the square body chevy pickups from 1973 to 1987 I never thought anyone would tie chevy's record - Amazing.

I know scotty doesn't like chrysler products. But this information he's discussing isn't based on his bias against them it's general info that might be of interst.

"If you believe" are the key words here.
I'll trust general knowledge over some internet "expert" any day.

There may not be a "law" but it is smart business sense for manufacturers to continue to have parts available. That guy is a jack A anyway, could careless what his "opinion" is. It's all about getting clicks and likes.

Scotty Kilmer is entitled to his opinion...

Repair parts are had from a multitude of sources - dealer, aftermarket, parts stores and wrecking yards.

I tend not to purchase vehicles with one-off engines / transmissions for this very reason.

I watch Scotty a lot, not for the knowledge but because he's funny. Basically he's s professional back yard mechanic. Some of his info is good and some is bull. Or should I say most is bull. One video was a 3rd gen ram wouldn't crank so he goes off on a tirade about " it's the cheap badly designed key fobs that most likely is causing it" . well by the end it turns out the starter was bad which he replaced in the street no less an it started right up. So what about the key fob rant Scotty...

He is the equivalent of the old guy yelling at people to get off his lawn and always talking about how much better things used to be. He hates new technology and anything that isn’t a 10 year old Toyota.

My favourite was one where he showed people how to repair a damaged brake line using some kind of crimp fitting. Yet on the package it specifically said “not for use on brake/hydraulic systems”.

Scotty's definitely a better wrench man than I, but that's basically what he did for a living for decades.

Most of his opinion is not based on fact, so you've gotta go into it knowing that.
