So ill start by saying that i follow details/trends and i have become hypersensitive to temps/value changes so i'm probably over doing it. What makes it worse is my Edge CTS3 is "permanently" mounted so i see it all the time. ill add a picture just to see that you cant miss it even if you tried.

For the longest time my coolant temp sits at 187 and nearly never moves. Recently, i have noticed that when i start going up hills i can see coolant temp quickly rise by 10-15 degrees and are a bit slower to cool than they used to be ( It still drops back down to 187) and it never used to be this way. I saw this yesterday driving up a hill i always drive and really questioned it because the OAT was 58-64 degrees. I suspect that the Thermostat is starting to show early signs of failure. My question here is:

How hard of a job is the Thermostat change on the 6.7 and how do I bleed the air after as we don't have a Radiator cap, It may also be time to change to silicone upper and lower hoses, any recomendations?

I have not change one on the 6.7 so cant say how hard it is compared to the 5.9, air is blead with t-stat jiggle pin, make sure you buy a Cummins T-stat and not aftermarket, I learned the hard way, my self I would change upper & lower rad hose, check the water pump, also make sure you flush the cooling system very well to get the old out, then flush it with lots of distilled water, then refill with concentrated Mopar Coolant, don't buy ready to use as your paying for 50%, I like to run my coolant mix 60/40 but most can get by using a 50/50 mix if ya don't live with extreme cold winter temps..

Actually that sounds pretty normal for a 2018 6.7. They changed the TSTATs to a cooler one around this time so the temps usually hover around your temp. It's not uncommon for my temp to spike to 200 and then drop right back to the low 190 high 180s. That just means the tstat is doing its job.

How high of temps are you seeing? We need a few more details.

Honestly im sure im being overly sensitive, i just watch trends and see an upward trajectory of temps giving me an indication of possible degradation That day with 58-62 degree OAT i saw a peak of 207 which is really nothing, just hasn't been the norm from my experience driving this particular truck.

Nothing blocking the fins, could use a cleaning, had the system flushed and brand new coolant 2 years ago. Looking back I really should have also changed the hoses then but felt it was too early.

Haha, I am same way about ECT, I watch it all the time, way too obsessive.

My 5.7L ECT was occasionally hitting over 230* with OAT at ~30*. I couldn't stand it, so I did 180* stat, and bought the whole HPTuners setup, because it was the only way I could lower the PWM fan settings. Now my steady-state cruise ECT is 185*, a solid 25* lower than it was.

This sounds completely normal. I agree that you are just being overly sensitive. Every vehicle I have ever driven has a similar type delay.
