Either will haul a 12ft enclosed well enough.

Why go diesel?

Essentially same truck (save engine, trans) except one youll owe on for a few more years (probably)

Will you be pulling alot? is this for MPG while towing concerns? the items listed a 1/2 tone will pull no problem unless its a huge boat. I don't believe the weight diff between the 1500 gas is much different than the ecoDiesel?

I'd say your fine how you are, save your money for more toys. the cost difference between the savings you will see for towing everynow and then don't justify its purchase IMO.. Unless your addicted to diesel like me and just want one. (note I need a HD truck for farming too)

If you want a diesel get the diesel. In addition to better mpgs, torque, etc the truck will also retain more of its value than its gas counterparts. Changing fluids and filters is easy and it's only expensive if you pay someone else to do it.

I put a lot of miles on a truck I got truck October of 2010 and have 140,000 miles on it already that's another reason I'm thinking of going diesel.

And I just pulled a 10 foot enclosed trailor from south Louisiana to Las Vegas and back and the 8 to 10 mpg was killing me lol

Get the 2500 CTD man, and if you ever plan to tow a nice 5th wheel, get the 3500 CTD for the payload.

I thought about going diesel as well but went with the hemi. My previous truck was a powerstroke, but modding it and maintenance costs along with a fear of transmission failure led me to a new truck. Looked at the cummins but couldn't justify the many extra costs associated with it for the 10-12 times I tow for camping per year. I also purchased the lifetime max care warranty (not available for diesel) so I plan on keeping this truck till the wheels fall off. Love the truck so far.

I run the 3500 CTD and I will say I LOVE IT!!! It may cost a little more to maintain, but the extra MPG and knowledge I can tow what I want when I want is priceless. The gasser will tow what you're talking about no prob but if you are ever gonna tow anything bigger make the jump now. I own it cause we will eventualy own a fifth but for now I own it cause I wanted it!!!:waytogo:

Only 2 reasons why I think you should get a diesel :

1. High mileage/ towing
2. Owning it for more than 5 years.

If you do these 2 things, it will pay off in the long run.

You have my blessing....hahaha

I did the same thing for close to the same reason @ least the weak sauce trans was one of the reasons.
