I'm in the process of replacing all of my lights with LEDs. Haven't had much luck in the brake light department. I think I'm just wanting an all red third brake light, but am not opposed to just replacing the bulbs that are there with LEDs.

Anyone got any good third brake light suggestions?

So put a red LED in the 3rd brake and 2 white LEDs on each side

I didn't have luck with LED's in my 3rd brake light. I got error message, so I took them back out. Ended up replacing the whole light with an aftermarket led unit for $40 from eBay.

From what I've read most people have issues with leaks once they change out that third brake light...is this always the case? Are there certain after-market lights that are better than others to avoid leaks? Or am I just going to have to plan on re-sealing it?

Thoughts?

I have had good luck with these in a 2013, 2014, and a 2015 without "bulb out" errors. They aren't the most reliable if you look at overall reviews, but I've used one of them for almost two years now without issues.

The white cargo-lights aren't monitored by the computer, or at least not closely, so you can use any white LEDs that you want in those.

You can just re-seal the taillight with RTV Black, or buy your own weather seal for it. I wanted simple, and stumbled upon a thread a while back. Got myself the latest revision (F) of the 3rd brake lights that have a thicker-than-original weather seal on them. So far works quite well.

Just drop some 194 LEDS in there and get a rubber gasket from home depot to seal it back up. Or use some Silicone.
