Earlier today I got extremely lucky with a deal on a set of 20x12 -44 motometals w/tires. They were dual slotted 5x5/.5, 78.3mm hub bore. When testing the fit before the purchase the bolts slide perfectly into place. The weird thing is when I put the wheel on the truck to make sure it fit the hub ring was snug but the wheel was really “shaky” without the lugs in place.

For example: my OEM rims I can place on the bolts/hub and they’re pretty sturdy(flat). With these moto metals placed on the bolts/ring it would almost fall off if I didn’t have a hand on it. Idk if it’s because the offset of the rim or the hub itself is really short (not much for the wheel to sit on).

The lugs are ordered so I won’t have them until next Tuesday unless I can find them at a local auto parts store.

I’ve never bought aftermarket rims before so idk if this is normal.

Hubcentric rings is what you will need ... all aftermarket wheels have them because not every truck has the same bore size, so hubcentric rings will give you a correct fit

The size difference is only 1/2 mm. I don’t think they make hub rings that small?

But honestly you shouldn't need them, the lugs should center them since "most" aftermarket wheels are also "lug centric" so that there is no need for hub centric rings .....

But you "can" add the rings to lug centric wheels ...

I feel like if my hub ring was longer it wouldn’t be a problem but when the rim was put in place I feel like only 1/2 inch came through the rims hub bore. I can’t find how long these stock hubs are but they definitely didn’t look long.

(I.e, if the stock hub was say 3 inches or so i feel like the rim wouldn’t move at all and it’d be stuck in place)

I just noticed the bolt pattern , for ram 1500s it is 5x139. 7 (5x5. 5) bolt pattern, "IF" it's dual drilled then they should fit yes ... did you confirm they actually fit ?

Yeah the bolt pattern wasn’t the problem at all. It fit flush with the bolts perfectly and their was plenty of bolt passed the rim to place lugs. I just feel like the hub isn’t long enough to keep it sturdy.

Hell there is even wheels with 3 bolt patterns on them, the holes are oval to be able to take the 3 different bolt patterns and use some kind of "shim" i believe ..

Even if it's not, the lugs will center the wheel, I honestly wouldn't worry about it at all ... the difference is very small which is actually a good thing

My wheels had a 110 bore. They are lugcentric but I opted for hub rings to keep it hubcentric as well since stock does both. The closest I could find without ordering custom were 78.3 to 110. Was told by the company that the .5mm would not be enough to even notice. Been that way for 2 years now no issues. Wish they were a bit thicker as they just barely touch the wheel.
