3 Ply tire carcass ? I have 35x12.50 R20 LT on my 1500. I love them ! I got them because of my ocd and couldn’t deal with road noise lol I did a lot of research and spoke to a lot of people in the tire biz. I was told these tires have the least amount of road noise for a beefy tire. They are amazing in the snow and good in the rain ( not great ) but definitely good enough. I rotate them every oil change and ya e around 40k+ miles on them and they have plenty of life left.

3 Ply Tire carcass?...

... "full 3-ply carcass construction in the tread and sidewall provides 50% more protection against impact damage than standard 2-ply tires."*

The vast majority of LT (light truck) brands of mud tires have a 3 ply tire carcass and sidewall for some added puncture resistance while off roading, but there are still quite a number of mud tires out there with just 2 plies. Unfortunately, most LT A/T tires have a standard 2 ply. It's how it is constructed with the plies that is of the most importance. Just having 1 extra ply doesn't mean that it's more durable than another brand's 2 ply, but it can't hurt trying to make it thicker for some added protection.

Back in the days of bias light truck tires there were 6, 8, and 10 ply tires. Equivalent load ratings today are C, D, and E which are assigned for radial tires, but these aren't the actual amount of plies in the tires.

Sorry, but a 35" tire on a 20" wheel wouldn't work too well within the rocks of our Rocky Mountains. Not enough tire sidewall height. Also, the rocks here are either broken shards of granite or volcanic. Both can easily tear through a 2 ply sidewall.

I know it's not what was asked but I just ordered new wheels with the Venom power hybrid tire. They are half the cost of Nittos but still have a 50k warranty. Nobody else has that. 35x12.5x22 12 ply are $950 delivered.

I'm looking to replace my stock wheels and tires with a set of Method NV HDs (18x9 +18) in the bronze color and pairing them with Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x12.50. I'm looking for experience (positive and negative) with these wheels and tires (either separately or in this combo).

I HAVE RUN THE RIDGE GRAPPLERS ON 5 TRUCKS BUT I GET THE 11.50. 35-20 EVERY TIME. THEY FIT BETTER UNDER THE TRUCK AND DONT SPRAY THE SIDES LIKE A 12.50. I DONT LIKE THE TIRES STICKING OUT AND THE TRUCK IS LIMITED ON DRIVE THROUGH CAR WASHES. LOOK AT 11.50. MUCH BETTER SIZE

20” on a PW is unheard of (unless a payment Queen) can you even air down on a 20” tire? I am the opposite as I would get 37-12.5 on 15” if the rim would fit over the brake calipers. Also on a 2500 the more tire the better the ride.

I have the Nitto Ridge Grapplers On my 2016 2500 crew cab 6.4 liter-....great snow tire with a slight slip on wet (rain) pavement from a complete stop to go....but have had that happen with other tires too so no complaint here about that. Have 38,850 mikes on them and getting ready for a new set soon.

A great set of snow tires wouldn't help me here today. A set of deep tread mud tires probably would though. I made an attempt to drive from our nearby Gateway, Colorado to Moab, Utah via the Gateway-Castleton OHV road. Its been snowbound all winter. Engaged both the front and rear lockers to get the Power Wagon through some thick wet mud which soon turned into a heavier packed snow up the grades through John Brown Canyon. Was following a set of old ATV tracks and then it was just snowmobile tracks. Got to the foothills in Utah by adding snow chains on the rear tires. Broke fresh tracks through the heavy deep snow at 20 MPH while revving the 6.4L at 4,000 RPM in low gear. Couldn't keep the truck moving forward though and so I had to back out. The road heading further west to Moab will just have to wait until Spring. There's no other vehicle tracks beyond mine and we met no other vehicles on the road. Can't beat some winter unmaintained roads in snow conditions even with my Cooper S/T Maxx tires and chains. Was looking forward to stopping for a beer in Moab.

Just before Thanksgiving 2019, we had a huge 2 1/2 day snow storm. The stock Firestone Transforce hwy tires that were on my rig did not give me any confidence for my 40 mile commute from 13 miles east of Carson City to Reno. So I bit the bullet and bought a set of the Les Schwab branded tire, Open Range, which has the Triple Peak Snow Tire Rating symbol. I guess one could say they worked perfectly. Since that T-Day weekend, it's only snowed once more down here in the valleys. :pp: The extra traction that I felt for that storm was night and day difference. But I was really hoping to have more snow driving. (Pics below are before and after of the tires.)

Moral of the story - buy a new set of tires and cause a snow drought for the area for the rest of the winter. :emotions34:

Hercules AT II Terra Trac just got my second set. First set lasted 60k with 70% towing 14k 5th wheel. Quiet tire on the road and very good off road until the 50k mark. They are on a '14-3500 Mega Cab dually so 6 tires, mounted balanced..$1149 out the door. 245x17x75

I have about 20k on my 35" Ridge Grapplers. Loved them new. They were awesome in Moab last year. Recently I started to notice some wet pavement slipping that concerns me. They look like they will probably go 40k+ miles. I run 37/33 on them with Saltas. Probably going to ST Maxx or Generals or Falkens when these wear out and I go for the 37's.

Nice looking truck! I think it's a case of personal preference - like the goldilocks story. I definitely think 17s with 35s is too much tire, and the 18s / 35s is closest to the look I'm going for with the truck. If it didn't have the factory lift then I think your setup is right on the money.
I noticed my typo. 6” lift (not log). Had to trim a little lip of plastic in the wheel well but not a big deal at all. Also realized I was off topic. My mind wanders. I’ve heard great thing about the grapplers as my buddy loves them on his Chevy and I did a lot of research, most very positive. I personally went with Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 MT and I’m happy with them and they were a bit cheaper on MrWheelDeal.com. Wish I went with a hybrid but they look nice and ride relatively smooth with not much noise. Now if ur not used to MT it will be a noticeable difference so be warned.

Got them installed this afternoon. I think they look great. I’ll get some better pictures after it gets a much needed wash.

One question I’ve neglected to ask. I’m assuming there’s no need to replace the stock steering stabilizer just going to 35s, right?

How much is Brian's Motorsports paying you for their advertising?

Haha. They just got a good pic so I used it. I'm planning to get some better ones once it goes more than two days without raining and I have a chance to wash the truck. That being said, it's a great shop if you're in the Nashville area. :)

Driven to Chattanooga, but not to Nashville. Maybe someday. Glad that they took care of both your wheel and tire needs while taking a nice photo of your Ram to add to their satisfied customer archive.
