Initially I was thinking about putting a single 12" (JL 12w3v2-300w RMS) sealed under the passenger seat of my QC. I came across a really good deal for 2 8" (JL 8w3v2-150 RMS each). Either of these setups would be run off of a JL 250/1 amp. I just wanted to get your guys' thoughts on a system of a pair of 8's in a quad cab.
I used to have 3 12w3v2's ported ran off of a LJ 1000/1 in a chevy caprice. I am not looking to get crazy loud like that any more. definitely a SQ setup that will give me a nice low end. I have never had a system in a truck and that is why im not sure how it will sound. I will keep my stock 7 speaker infinity interior speakers. Only am looking to add a sub/subs to the mix. Any input is great!!

ive used a couple 8" subs and was dissapointed with all of them.
i would definitely go with either 10"s or 12"s

That's definitely some good input. what types of 8's and what did you run them off of the time, if you remember?

they were in a 96 ram extended cab, 2 of them, i think they were diamond audio on an eclipse amp, dont remember the wattage. sounded like dog farts. ive never heard an 8" sub sound good though. and for any deep bass whatsoever, an 8 just isnt going to do it.

I agree and say get the 10's, I have a single 10" sub behind my seat and it hits harder than the two 12's that my friend has in his QC lol, but 10's or 12's definitely

Yeah im looking to only do this isntall once. I dont want to pu tin the 8's, not like it and then have to try and sell them to go with my original set up. In a quad cab, only going with a single woofer, would you suggest a 12" or would a 10" do the trick giving me decent low end?
I know the 12 will give better low end but will the 10" be ok in the truck. It's hard for me to answer these questions because every system I have had has been in a sedan fighting through the truck and I havent been in alot of truck with systems.

hmmm i guess it all depends on the brand of sub you go with, i think the only reason mine hits as hard as it does it because mine is a single cab, so it doesn't need as much, but for a quad cab I woud think you would want to go with a 12"

Maybe someone with a QC and a system will chime in with what they think :)

Go with a 12" sub for a single sub in a QC. I have two 10" subs and it sounds great for me.

with either the 10 or the 12 youll just have to make sure the box has enought airspace for the certain sub your going with. the bigger the box the better the sound. i would probably go with a 10 if your looking to put it under your seat as it will be a smaller box

I guess if I'm not doing the 8's then Ill go back to my original plan which is a single JL audio 12w3v2. I used to have three of these so I know what they can do. Now the hard part will be finding the sub at a good price since they are discontinued. I do not want the new 12w3v3, I havent heard good things about them.
