Hello,
Have a trouble with my 04 dodge ram 1500 4x4 4.7L automatic truck. It makes a loud ticking noise from the engine area when I start up the truck. It must be approx. 38 degrees or colder or no noise. If it is warmer than it sounds fine. The noise continues till the truck has warmed up enough for the thermostat to open. Doesn't matter if the truck is in gear or neutral. Just has to be cold out. If I remove the serpentine belt, no more noise. It does have a new water pump, alternator, pwr steering pump, thermal fan clutch, belt tensionor and serp belt. The sound reminds me of the noise a spray paint can makes when you shake it. Any ideas would be helpful. Key points: must me colder than approx 38 degrees or no noise, and noise goes away when serp belt removed.
thanks for your help.
