I'm ordering tint my front 2 windows they will be 5%. I want to match the factory tint to the 5%. If its a little darker that's fine but I don't want 5% over the 20%. What % should I order I'm tint exempt do to bad eye injuries. I've tinted for years but stop 2 years ago so I need a little help.

I think a ten would be the closest you could get on top of the twenty, but I'm not sure, maybe someone else will know more then me.

My guy locally put 20 on mine, he used a meter and that was the closest he had to offer, I think it matches pretty close. It's slightly lighter I'd guess 10-15 would be a closer to perfect match. Oh and that short horizontal stripe in the upper left of the driver window is sloppy waxing.

BTW anything darker than 35 is illegal here, I had to pay in cash to have it done in 20 lol.

Wow that pic is before nearly everything I've done, it looks different than now, but not different enough yet. :)

i don't know if this helps, but if you were to put just 20% on the fronts it is a pretty close match with the back

I think what Scotts2012ram is saying is, He wants 5% tint on the front windows. The back are the factory tint. What % tint should he apply over the factory to achieve the same % front and back. Also he is tint exempt due to an eye injury so he is not concerned about what is legal or not.

With that being said, I don't have the answer for you Scotts2012ram but I am sure someone will know the answer!

I realize that and I was giving him what percentage gets them fairly equal. Then he can try to figure the math from there

Klicker your right on. Quiestpeen I miss under stud you last night. I was thinking 20% over the stock. Did u have 20 put on the front window or over the rear

I'm saying 20% on the front windows is a pretty close match to the rears. So knowing that maybe the math will be easier to figure out what to put on the rears to match 5% on the front.

Also a decent tint shop should be able to figure it out for you with a light meter I would guess

Most shops around here will rip tint off before stacking, you might just do that and put 5 on the back as well.

But if they want to stack it most of them are good enough to tell you what stacked will almost match up.

he wouldn't be stacking though since the back windows are factory tinted. right?

I have no clue. Ive only ever had single cabs. I thought they just tinted the windows from factory, so i figured it be stacked. But if it's 20 then the easiest to get close to 5 would be putting 10 on it.

I think the factory tint is pretty close to 20%. If you put 20% over that it should get you to 4%. Pretty close to the 5% your putting on the fronts. I'm no math wizard, but that's my best guess.

I didn't understand he wanted to stack it on top of each other, my bad.
I guess the math would be 20% of light on the first layer, then 20% of that with a second layer = 4%. 20% of 20=4?
