I've been trying to get my exhaust tips off to see about getting them powder coated, I can loosen the clamp just fine but even when the clamp is extremely loose the tip won't budge.

Has anyone had stuck exhaust tips before? What did you use to get it freed?

I used WD40 on the whole area before I finished up, so Im hoping that will make the process easier. I was considering using a rubber mallet but I honestly don't know what direction would be the best to hit it from to not mess up the spot weld that keeps the clamp on the tip.

I think the spot weld just holds the clamp to the tip, not the tip to the exhaust. That was the way they were on my 2018. Maybe try some PB Blaster? Are both sides stuck? Weird. Mine came right off.

I've only tested one side but I'll see if the other is the same deal. I expected it to put up a little bit of a fight but I could probably leave the clamps loose, drive around & the tips wouldn't budge lol. The WD40 didnt do much for me, I might try PB blaster or something of the sort. Once I have a better weather day I'm going to see what I can do with it.

Mine popped right off when I had them powder coated. The spot weld holds the clamp to the tip, not to the pipe.

Soak them in PB blaster. Then take a hammer and LIGHTLY tap all around that connection. tap it soft enough that it wont dent anything but tap it firm. Should help any rust that may of formed in there and is holding it together. try to pull it out in a circular motion too

Heat the tip's socket flange up with MAPP gas and wiggle, beeswax will help too. No shame in using a lead hammer to persuade it.

Your county must use that good salt mix like here in Wisconsin. It's like chemical fusion.

Find a nice brick wall. Throw that bad boy in reverse and floor it!

OR, have someone rear end you :banana-mario:
