All this tire info is great. I hopefully won’t need any for a while (17k on original stock GYs), but when I do I know where to look for comparisons. I must drive like a lazy old man though bc I don’t have any complaints about the stock GYs, other than that they seem to spin fairly easily on rainy days. Granted, I don’t have anything to compare them to either. This is my first truck.

I never go off road but drive a lot of highway miles.

I love the Michelins for the comfort and quiet.

I can justify the cost because they last so darn long. I am on my third set.

I felt the same way about the GYs. Didn’t understand why they were getting such a poor review.

Had a 200 mile ride last week, much of it some hard rain, and couldn’t believe how poorly they tracked. I really wasn’t looking to replace them, and didn’t need the additional expense.

Was offered $300 credit against the purchase of a new set, alternative brand, and jumped at it.

See how you feel about the GYs in another 8k miles. Hope you still like them.

Michelin are the best tires I have ever owned, hands down. And they are a premium cost tire. I think a lot of people take a “pass” on them because of the expense. I did.

With a 65k warranty on the Nittos, favorable reviews from people I trust who own them, feedback on the forums and out the door price of about $625, I bit the bullet.

On an related note, saw them on another RAM yesterday, and they looked bad ass. I don’t easily impress with many aftermarket mods - but they’re definitely a bump in appearance.

Those Goodyear’s aren’t totally a bad tire up until they get about half worn. My old 08 I had, was still rolling on those factory Goodyear’s when I bought it. They rode good, we’re nice and quiet, pulled that U-haul trailer really nice at high speeds when I moved from Colorado to Oklahoma but on dry pavement, being half worn was all they were good for. Wet roads, they sucked. So easily to hydroplane. Ice- might as well had drag slicks on. Not very long after I moved down here, was when I got about a 100 bucks out of them in trade for a new set of Cooper Discoverer AT/3s. Not a bad tire either, but once they got down below the halfway mark, they weren’t very good.

My new truck, I had a pretty good idea where these stock Goodyear’s were possibly going so in order to get as much as I could out of them, I pulled them off early for something better.

Nitto make great tires OP, you will be pleased, they make a nice HT tire (Dura Grapplers) for those looking for that type of tire, they will quieter than the Terra’s.

Thanks. Ridge Grapplers were also recommended, but it appears based on their site they only have a couple choices if I choose to stay at the OEM size. Am I missing something?

Terra’s are rated relatively well for quietness. Truth is, bought my vehicle with a cat back and probably won’t hear tires over exhaust...wish I had the standard OEM exhaust on it - but I get a ton of compliments on the way it sounds.

My plan is to replace the stock Goodyears with a set of Nitto Exo Grapplers in the stock size.

The Exo Grapplers are the best all around aggressive tire if you drive a lot of highway or do regular towing/hauling. They are E load rated and have amazing wet weather grip. They are more popular on 3/4 ton trucks though.

I had them on my last two F150s and they are so stable when towing it is amazing really. I had the same set on both trucks and had even wear even after 50k miles.

You really don’t need a 10 ply, or even an 8 ply to tow with on a halfton pickup but to each is own. I feel pretty confident that these 4 ply Michelin’s I bought will comfortably tow whatever my halfton is capable of towing.

I am not saying you need it, but the difference of having an E rated tire vs not, when towing, is very noticeable. There is literally no mush when maneuvering.

Oh I’m sure it is, and I’m sure there isn’t any stability lessened but for time when you don’t tow, do you really want that much of a rougher ride for the little bit of stability? I mean, is it worth it? You do know that you can inflate those stock Goodyear’s to 44 psi cold to actually increase them to their max weight-carrying capacity of 2600 pounds per tire? Just because the door jamb sticker says 39, they don’t have to stay at that pressure when towing heavy.

But on that note, even my Michelin defenders fully inflated to their max at 44psi, is only a little over 300 pounds less than even those BFG all terrains I had, at 65psi for a max weight carrying capacity of 3000 pounds per tire.

Again, to each is own, but I just don’t see the sense in running that heavy of a tire on a halfton.

I like the look of an aggressive tire. The Exo is a combination of a Terra Grappler and a Ridge Grappler. It is designed as a four season heavy duty tire. As I said, I ran them on my previous two F150s and the ride quality was good to me. These Goodyears seem very soft in comparison.

I have not yet towed my RV with the new truck so we shall see how they perform when the time comes.

That’s because they are a softer tire. Those ones you’re talking about are a 10-ply light truck tire and those stock Goodyear’s are a passenger P-rated 4-ply tire.

But if you’re happy with the rougher ride they make just for a little bit of increased towing capacity and stability, that’s all that matters I guess; it’s your truck. I’m just merely saying that you don’t need... that heavy of a tire to safely tow with a halfton.

BFG ko2 E rated with 50k mile warranty. Snow rated, looks good/rides good and not noisy. I've ran them for the last 14 years and will never buy any other truck tire. Most of all my friends run them and say the same.
