Hi Guys,
I placed my order for a 2015 1500 Limited EcoDiesel. It's still not too late to make a change and I got to thinking about the Anti slip diff they offer.
I ordered the 3.55 gears since I don't really tow and a smooth economic ride is my goal. and I opted not to get the Limited Slip Diff.

I used to have a pathfinder in the 90's with a limited slip and I hated it. Up here in colorado in the winter, it would catch on wet/dry roads and kick out and send me for a big embarrassing spin. That experience has me biased against a posi.

But the RAM seems to have traction control in 2WD, but I can't really find much info on this. A LS with traction control would almost eliminate the kickout problem, I think...

What would you guys recommend?

Thanks

I would rather have it and not need it then not have it and need it. It's much more expensive to add after the fact then when you first order your truck.

Wait a second... I'm posting from an iPhone?

I'd definitely add it. With the traction control and stability nannies, you're going to have a hard time kicking the rear end out.

I would say order it, it's not an expensive option and the truck won't act like your old Pathfinder. The computer will never let the truck swing out like that under normal driving, the traction control will kick in.

I would certainly add it. my '11 2wd did not have it. Snow/ rain was a bit of fun.
my '13 Ram had it, worked flawlessly in the snow.

learn how to correct and get it turn off the damn traction control hehe... seriously wish I paid attention and got it.

Seriously though the computer is very good at preventing it from tail whips unless you really want it to.

Thanks guys. I contacted the dealer to see if I can add it.
I'd like to think that I'm a better driver than to let the LSD surprise me like that but it only takes a sec of not paying attention and boom you've swapped ends, heh heh

My stock 06 with no traction control and 3.92 LSD takes a fair bit of motivation to get it sideways in the rain unless you mash it from a stop
Last time i remember having an oh **** moment was just after it stopped raining and i was taking a left turn in a wide intersection and applied the throttle agressively in the apex. I was like damn that was cool, wheres my go pro :p

But yeah i love my LSD. Definatly helps off road and in the winter and on dry pavement when you mash it from a stop it chirps, locks and goes like hell!

Your pathfinder was probably a good deal shorter too, that makes it a little easier to spin than a longer truck.

On ice they are worse to have as you realize but in deep snow and mud they are nice to have. I would weigh what you drive on more. I added it to mine and would have wanted it from the factory had I made the order. I bought mine used so I made it what I wanted.

I have 3.73 LS in the 2 door Wrangler. Love it.

I have open 3.55s in the Ram hate em both. Will have 4.10 LS in the truck real soon.

OP, do yourself a big favor and don't go cheap. Get the 3.92 LS. You'll likely get the same fuel mileage as the 3.55s, but the truck will be MUCH more enjoyable. Those rotten 3.55 make that truck labor and moan. I use the slap stick (11) and tow/haul mode to get around it most of the time.
