Hey yall! I've had my 2018 truck for about a year now, and the screen was delaminated when I got it. It wasn't a huge problem, but I did eventually replace it. However, the new one has the issue of ghost touching. It is not visibly delaminated, and I cannot possibly figure out how to fix it. I have tried pulling the fuse but that did nothing, so I always just disconnect the battery and wait a minute for it to forget itself. Please, does anyone know what I could do to fix the thing?

THe only way to possibly fix it if it's not too far along is to add more cooling. I have a UAQ that started ghost touching 2-4 years ago and as long as the fans I added are running it does not have the issue. Other than that, screen replacement is the sure fix.

Is there a how-to on the fans? I'm considering adding them to my original 8.4 and trying it again.
Funny you should ask...I've been hounded to make one but haven't yet. @Mpgrimm2 pieced my comments together somewhere. I'll post here when I find it ...

i think he's sent various links to a walk through, but i waded through the links and never did locate the fans part. I'm really interested to find out if heat has been what caused my 8.4 to start freezing up and rebooting. It primarily does it the most during hotter temps.

Probably. Some of these get extremely hot. I firmly believe you get a performance boost with them running. I used two of these...

Where are you tapping for power, and how are you mounting them? I think if I know that part I can figure out the rest. :)
Originally I tapped just the cigar lighter outlet for ACC power but I changed that to use as my trigger on a relay for multiple devices (if it's just those fans no need for a relay). I used zip ties to mount it to the metal frame directly behind the radio).

Thanks! I bought the new thermal pads already... just need time to disassemble the radio and replace them. I think I'll order a couple of fans and give it a whirl while I'm in there. If only I could find a decent black trim panel for the radio and HVAC controls that wasn't $400. I'd like to be able to easily swap that whole section instead of disassembling to remove the aftermarket, just in case this fix doesn't work.

Have a picture of the trim your trying to replace?

I'm trying to find a radio bezel that already has the dual hvac controls already installed. I had to uninstall and reinstall all of mine with the aftermarket radio that I went with. It was a PITA. OR..... if I could find just the auto climate controls I could reinstall those into my original bezel. and then only have to swap the bezel out to change the radio if it doesn't work. The aftermarket radio and the bezel are one piece.

I did a couple 12volt fans and new thermal pads on the wifes Challenger and it made a noticable differance in the car suffering from the black screen of death, that the 2019 1320 Challengers are famous for. Afterwards it never had the black screen show up again. The 1320's are an oddball as they're the only Scatpacks that utilize a transmission brake and Drag pages, that you can only access through the 8.4,and they use a totally differant 8.4 then normal ScatPack Challengers do.

My main concern is IF heat is causing my issue. I actually like the 8.4 UConnect personally. That's why I want to give it a whirl first vs dropping an exorbitant amount of money to find a replacement radio. Does anyone know if a pre-2018 radio works in a 2018 truck? I found one in good working condition with the entire center panel for ~$400. I don't care about Carplay.

I really wanted to like the aftermarket radio, but I just can't... I like simple and apparently not a lot of bells and whistles. I guess I'm getting old.

Oh... and sorry to hijack the thread.
