2014 ram 1500 tradesman - replaced tpms on one tire - old one was broken off by last owner.
I got another one to replace it and its installed. It was supposed to be pre-programmed for this vehicle.
"should" have auto learned it . but tire is showing zero on the dash. Would a rf hub rest help in alfaobd ? ( I have the pin already)
(stupid me - I didnt write down the new sensor ID before they installed it)

Anytime I had tires changed they used a machine to set the PSI on each tire !
Maybe Auto Zone or O'Reilly has one to borrow ?
I know some Sensors auto reset and some do not !
Please UPDATE what you do to fix it !
I am curious lol

I've had the RF hub start reading new sensors in as little as a mile, as as long as 50 miles.

Any tire shop should be able to scan the sensor and get the ID for you. Or, you can buy a tpms scanner and do it yourself.

I have a ThinkTPMS scanner and an ATEQ VT37 scanner/programmer. Both are great, but kinda expensive. If you invest in a tool like the Ateq, you can use programmable sensors like the Schrader EZ Sensor, which can be programmed to any car.

But, if you RF hub doesn't pick up the new sensor after 50 miles or so, programming it won't help, because the RF hub isn't picking it up, or it isn't transmitting.

If using preprogrammed sensors, go with a Schrader. Avoid Chinese junk from eBay or Amazon.

no - I just got the truck 2 months ago and it was in a box in the truck ( it new though ) - dont know where the last guy got it from but looks like amazon special- I looked it up and it is correct for this truck - supposedly pre-programed and ready to install. Took it to a small tire shop to get them to install it. ( they did not have a tool to read it) since it was supposed to auto detect - I was not overly worried about it. if worse comes to worse - there is another tire shop in town that I can have them put another new one in and program it. Hopefully they can read this one first.

From what I have read Many sensors from E bay and Amazon did not work! Some old and battery dead in sensor!
The shop I went to only charged me 75$ installed and work fine !
Good luck but my guess is yours has a bad battery !

update - to anyone reading this - I got a tireshop to read the sensor - they didnt charge me but i gave the guy a 20 for his troubles. Programed it in with alfa-obd - and working perfectly - he just had to activate it and read it . The tire shop guy liked seeing alfaobd and what it could do. next thing I know -Im talking to 3 of them about it and one of them had a ram truck. He's coming over to see what I can read and do on his . I'm charging beer ... :D
