Hello everyone,
I have a 2014 Ram 1500 2wd and recently traded the factory wheels, with the plastic cover, for a set of all aluminum factory sport wheels. The guy didn't know what year the wheels came off of.
once i swapped them, about 30 miles later the "check tire pressure sensor" warning and yellow tire light came on and all tires were blank.

My nephew cleared the code with his snap-on scanner, and although the warning light went away for a week, i don't think it was a true reading, because for the entire week it had the drivers side at 40psi and the passengers side at 42psi. Usually in the morning its different than in the heat of the day.

Yesterday i went and got new tires, and sure enough the warning and light came back, so i took it back to the tire place and he had a better scanner than my nephews, he went to each wheel and he said it must be from an earlier or later model then my originals and there's nothing he can do about it, i either have to live with it or change out the TPMS sensors, which i really don't want to do, more money.

Is there a way to get these to read or am i screwed ? I'd like for them to work, but not willing to spend more money, and have them remove the tires again, at the very least i'll just hope that my nephews scanner can at least clear the code and have no warning light, but would like for them to work if possible
Thanks in advance for anything you can help with. I've searched the internet and YouTube to no avail.

I personally went on amazon and got all 4 for $30. I know it sucks now but would have been a good idea to put new ones on with the new tires. They are only good for so long and most places charge around $ 70 each without install. The ones I purchased have been great. Just make sure you match your make and model. Good luck

Not a problem, good luck and take your time and read the reviews. It will tell you what works with what. Not all work with every year. Happy holidays

This post is why so many of us value this outstanding source of information. Jeff's help is typical of the members on this forum.
But,,,on the subject of TPMS I have spent the last two weeks going through the learning/education process. We have two 2018 Ram's. A 1500 and a 2500. FCA locked down access to the placard value's in the 2018 trucks. What I have learned and found, looks like this.
1. The statement/belief that federal regulations prevent you from changing the placard value in the TPMS program is BS. Federal regulations only prevent us from removing, disabling or deleting the system. With a pin # from the dealer and the right scan/diagnostic tool, the placard value can be changed.
2. The representations made by some of the tool company's and the way they state the specs is misleading. I.E. the Autel TS608 "can not will not" allow you to change the placard value on 2018 trucks.
3. Some of the other tool suppliers Bartec, Protec etc are working on a software upgrade that will provide repair and tire dealers access and the ability to change 2018 placards when a customer changes tire or wheel size.
4. FCA/RAM knew that customers would need to change the settings when they change tires and wheels.
5. The dealer can do this. But, some do not want to or believe they are not allowed to. So finding a reasonable and understanding dealer who will adjust the placard for the rear tires on the 2018 2500 HD from 80psi to 70psi or lower to improve the ride on the Firestone tires is challenging.
6. At the moment scanners that will allow the customer to do this, are in the $2000-$4500 price range. Fitz

So how come you didn’t keep your TPMS sensors to use with the new wheels? Is the person you traded wheels with having the same problem?

Unless the different sensors from even the same year would have had to have been programmed to your truck, if I was going from one factory wheel to another factory wheel, I would’ve kept my sensors because really, as far as I know when you get new wheels and have to buy new sensors is when you go with a new set of aftermarket wheels or when you go up (or down) in sizes in your wheels.

Just need AlphhaOBD + Mx Bluetooth + pin # for your truck to change your TPMS psi thresholds. I’m running 50psi/front & 45psi/rear. Greatly improves ride.

Bought factory tpms sensors from Benny, left wheels with tire place and they mounted/balanced them up. Stopped by shop and had them installed on truck last night. Drove home 15-20 miles and tpms comes on with all dashes.
Since these are factory tpms sensors do i need to reset anything or it will learn on its own?
I do have alphaobd also.

If it won’t reset/relearn, try to go to a dealer with the TPMS tool. They read each sensor and manually download it to the laptop. I had to do that with a ‘15 Ram 1500.
Weird though, I had a 2018 1500 with 2 sets of wheels. That truck would reset TPMS with no problems.

Wife used truck next day to get to work (her brand new acura rdx with 400miles needed a windshield!) so i got a ride to pick up my truck, once i started it all was good and sensors were synced. She said her ride the dash was telling her tpms issue.

Do you remember which ones you got off amazon (maybe look at order history). My 2014 needs a new set.

I believe these were the ones on Amazon. I will check when I get home today, but no issues for well over a year now
