Hi all! I want to change my fluid and filter. In other vehicles, I have used this method:

1. Drop pan and drain fluid
2. Replace filter
3. Put pan back on and replace fluid with the same amount that drained out
4. Pull return line to pan and, quart by quart, drain old fluid and replace with new until clean fluid comes out the return line.
5. Check levels

There are two lines that go into the pan area, which one is the return to pull?
Also, it's ATF+4, correct? and how many quarts would be needed for a full flush?

Thanks all!

Your process sounds good to me. Only one caution, use a Mopar filter to replace the old one. I have heard of aftermarket filters causing problems after a filter replacement. make sure you have the correct transmission fluid.

Also be mindful, there are two filters, suction (large flat filter) and return (screw on canister filter). One problem area in the RFE is where the suction filter fits to the trans. There is a seal that presses in that should be replaced (comes with filter kit). Some people forget, some people actually try to force the new seal into the old seal lol, then winder why their truck won't move...word of caution, if a flush was not a regular part of this truck's maintenance life, a full flush may do more harm than good.

Are you going to use a gasket or RTV for the pan?

Why remove the return to the pan? Not that that wont work, but I've typically removed the supply line from the radiator and route that line into a jug. Start engine, fill the 1gal jug. Stop engine, add 4qts, repeat.

I'd use Maxlife ATF, but any ATF+4 is good.

In regards to the filters, I have no specific experience with these.

Which one is the supply line to the radiator? Could you please send a pic, if possible?

I was probably going to use a gasket.

I'll keep that flat filter seal thing in mind as well!
