How do I go about removing the boot and plastic cover on the transfer case shifter? It seems like it should just pop up with a bit of force, but I thought I should check so I dont break things.
The base of the boot has a frame around it with "barbs?" that hold it into the plastic base.
If you squeeze in on it it will loosen and you can pop it out, I had to use a screw driver with light pressure.
The plastic base has a few screws holding it down (3 Phillips?)
The lever is also held down by a few bolts. As for the knob... I dont remember if I ever got it off. I may have popped the top center of the knob out and removed the nut... I can't recall if that was on my Dodge though.
