What make and model of transmission does my Ram R/T have and is the Sonnax line booster or shift kit worth the time and effort.
My trans has issues but in thinking of just beefing it up instead of uninstalling. My BD and giving it to the dealership for a week to trouble shoot it and then being told it's the planets not inlined or some BS...:grd:

Same transmission as previous years. It's also known as a 5-45RFE which evolved from the 45RFE.

I had the sonnex line booster, still have it on my shelf. It worked but got some noise in reverse with it at times. Best move I made was upgraded to a reworked valve body SharaDon stage II. I have an extra Valve body. Stage III might be in my near future or just biting the bullet to a stage III tranny with a pro charger, Maggie, whatever Arrington has in the works as of this week I think is on the menu next...

My biggest issue with my trannie is rolling about 60-70 and smash on it, it feels like everything slips and then catches, I swear I'm going to snap my drive shaft.

One thing you will learn(or should learn) about a ram 545rfe is doing a cruising wot at any speed above 35 is a BIG no no.

You need to start a core program with Sharadon. I wouldn't mind a stage III valvebody.

I've heard the same, accelerating at higher speeds is bad for the tranny. I'd like to learn why that is. If there is someone with this knowledge please educate us.

The Sonnax booster I had on my previous truck lasted about 3 weeks before I knew I needed something better. I can't say it made my shifting better, but it did make it a bit quicker, but was still far from adequate for my liking. I'd still drop back during shifts. Bought the stage III VB but truck was wrecked before installing. If you're even thinking about a shift kit, save yourself the headach and just get a valve body upgrade.

As others have said, a WOT kick down is a very bad thing in the 65/545ref transmission because it passes through the 2nd prime clutch pack, which is the weak link of the trans. Any real amount of power and you'll burn it out very quickly.

Your options for transmissions are a L&M, Sharadon, or a ATS, but the last 2 have dropped out of favor because there have been several people burning them out.
