Transmission Swap

I had a guy buy the Y-pipe off of my 1998 parts truck, and now he wants the tranny out of it. He said his truck is a 1997 1500 extended cab, 360 4x4 automatic. My parts truck is a 1998 1500 extended cab, 360 4x4 automatic. But he pointed out to me that his overdrive button is on the dash, while the one in my parts truck is on the end of the column shifter. So, my question here is would the 1998 tranny work in the 97 truck??

it has to be doable. i dont have any specific knowledge with this trans and how it is wired but a switch is a switch
