So I’m trying to find info on the temp range I should want my transmission to be.

2012 ram 1500 Hemi 4x4
With the 6 speed

I never have temps above 118-125
This seems pretty low for a normal range

Does anyone have any experience with this happening?

Faulty temp sensor?
So these transmissions have some type of thermostat that could be stuck open?

That's very normal for the 545/65RFE transmissions. Mine will run around there this time of year and up to 140 in the summer. When towing it can get to 150-160 but comes down quick when I stop.

Cooler fluid is never a bad thing[emoji106]

The hottest that my RAM 1500 has gotten with the 65RFE was 190 during the summer right before a tranny fluid flush. Now it stays below 130 and the hottest it’s gotten since is 115.

2011 same as yours and mine runs the same. My transmission just got rebuilt last week by the dealer $4500. Thank God I have gotten a warranty. Cost me $100 deductible. 83000 miles.

Mine is usually at 136f, even when towing I have never been 150f.

So this is a common thing.... just never really thought they would stay THAT low temp

Yeah, it’s a good thing though. My Chrysler 300s tranny also stays below 120, with the 8sp.

No the 8 speed runs hot by FCA design. There's a heater that heats up the transmission with engine coolant so it's more efficient. 180-200 is normal for the 8 speed....

Not until it hits over 200, my 1500 also hit 180-190 (without towing) with tons of traffic and going uphill last year during a very hot summer day.
