I'm just curious here. My Owners manual shows the "Fold Down back seat" as an option, showing release latches for the catches on the back wall. Are these Latches available, and can they be swapped out? Would that be a viable option to raising and shaving?

Interesting.
Can you tell from the manual, are they just putting the mega cab style seats in the other cabs? Or are they using a different catch on the standard seats?

The mega cabs have had fold down seats for quite a while (maybe always), but because they can recline, they have a different design than the quad and crew cab seats.

If I go any higher, there won't be any of the white plastic piece left

Sorry, Then I got nothing to help you. I do not understand how come your seats are not functioning as others have done, even likt the fella who posted his pics in this thread. Every single picture I have seen of those who trim down their hooks, there is always a bit of the white plastic that goes around the metal hook, to help keep the white plastic race on the metal hooks underside, in place, as it were.

I have seen those who trimmed slightly more off than is shown in this thread but have never seen, nor heard of, anyone who had to remove it all.

You're right, I went back an reviewed the manual, and indeed, I was looking under "Mega Cab Options" My mistake was assuming the manual was for 1500's only, and I see now that it covers 1500, 2500, and 3500 truck. Sorry about that!

I wonder if you could slide the rear bench forward just a bit and get that "reclining" feel to the back as well...

Might be possible if you installed a mega cab seat, and are willing to sacrifice some leg room.
Looking at some pics online, it looks like the mega cab seats do NOT attach to the rear cab wall at all. I believe they use a totally different seat frame.

I am having the same issue on my 2018 except I haven't tried raising the seat yet. I cut the clips in the back probably about a quarter inch into the white plastic and the seat still won't come forward without loosening the seat bolts and raising it up a bit.

The clips on the back of the seats DO NOT HAVE TO BE CUT!

I put approx (7) 1/2" flat washers or 3/4" of spacers under mine and could've done a full 1" it bolted directly back in.
Can't tell its been modded at all. I used some hippie chrome(duct tape) to hold the stack in place.

The 18 is a full metal piece.

Question, in your third picture, where you have the box tucked between the seat and wall;
Are you able to fold the seat back to the upright position with that box in place? Are you able to raise the seat bottom with that box in place?

While you don't have to cut the clips, I don't want to raise my seat since I have a sunroof...I'd like my passengers to have all the headroom they can get! Plus, I keep bumping my little girl's head when I throw, I mean, gently place her into the car seat. I'm planning to cut the clips, myself; now that's a mod you truly can't see.

We know. Me personally though, I don't want to raise the seat. I will probably have to though since cutting the clips did not work on my specific truck for some reason.

I feel your pain,
2019 Classic quad. First stacked washers, then cut bracket on the back so I have both mods and it still wont fold? I gave up
