Hipps, I would also recommend asking Bradknob about the laptop. With the Helix Pro, the software has a built in RTA. I don't know if he uses it or how it is to be used in correlation with tuning the Helix.

If all measurements and tuning are done within the Helix software, I would think screen size is not that important but if you will also be using REW then some extra screen real estate is nice for copying settings.

IMO and IIRC you are a Mac guy, since this will be for just audio, go as cheap as possible!

Thanks troutspinner, yes I am a Mac guy and this would be just for tuning helix as well as writing custom tunes to my trinity Diablo t-1000. So this laptop would be dedicated to my ram programming. I have found a nice machine that is a 2-1 laptop and touch screen. It is a windows 8.1 machine and has decent power as well as 64 gb ssd. I found it with free ship and a decent price.

U can't full screen the helix software so I think 8" would be too small. (That's not what she said).... But my only gripe is that it only has 1 usb (I use a usb mic). Which is a PITA when trying to tune and you have to mute one speaker, measure, swap USBs, restart helix software, turn speaker back on, unplug again, measure.... Etc etc. I tried an adapter USB to mini usb but it wouldn't work.

Dam the 10.1" was the perfect size didn't want bulky for the truck and liked that the screen separated from keyboard but I thought the same thing about the usb as well. I have the Dayton mic to measure with and I know I don't want to be joggling sub cables and opening and closing software...that does Sound like a pita. Have you tried a powerfel us. Hub as that one port is 3.0? Other option is to move up to the 11.6" screen tad bit more but more usb and power. That Asus packed aittle punch except for the usb's. Back to looking at more options.

I have not tried a usb splitter or hub yet. It's definitely in the plans when I get the chance.

For $200 bucks, I dont think u can beat that HP deal. Especially if it's sole purpose is DSP and tuner duties. I would prob buy it if I was in the market for one. I would def throw a paint job on it too. Lol

I only dug around the RTA tab for a sec but I don't think u can load a mic calibration file. I use REW

Gotcha! I didn't see a way to up load either when I glanced at last week. I guess it's a way for them to make someone buy there $400 mic. However, we paid for the feature.

Not to thread jack, but I had 2004 Titan, too. I believe that was the first year they were introduced.
