Zapco DC series amps have a built in crossover section that will allow you to go active and some of the best bang for the buck used amps out there.

Did I read that you took your high level signal from back of the head unit? I thought we couldn't do that because of the CANBus garbage? I had to take mine at the factory alpine amp. I was under the impression that he signal from the head unit to the factory amp was all CANBus and not your standard AC signal.

Gotcha! Makes sense now. Didn't think you could grab it at the head unit with the upgraded system. I wasn't able to on my 2012 and 2013 Grand Cherokee, 2013 RAM 2500 and my latest project the 2014 RAM 2500.

Sailing Away

I decided to pull my tweeters from the dash today and put the as far near to the sails to get a listen, definitely an improvement. Hard to explain the sound difference but brighter and more direct but something I would recommend if you were contemplating sails or dash for your tweeters......much like everyone recommended to me but I was going to be different right? LOL

Anyways, here is a pic of the front.

A pic of the back.

And a completed pic.

I am very happy with the outcome. I thought the outer edges would protrude a bit since the sail surface isn't perfectly flat but they came out great. I like the compression ring Focal gives you also to secure the tweeter, talk about easy.

The wiring however was not easy, I had to run the wiring through the the doors and get through the connector and boot again, always a pain in the butt but it's done and sounds good.

Thanks David.

lizardking! stop instigating! ;) LOL

ramdude, it doesn't look much different than yours, you did a nice job. I pulled my sail and placed my tweeter under it and then snapped the sail back on and it fully snapped in. That told me I had some freedom with where I made the hole so I centered it between the two clips.

I just spent an hour and a half in it running some kids around and errands. I am done! It sounds perfect! I see/hear no reason to go 3 way or DSP at this point. That of course is not to say that I won't do more down the road out of boredom but I'll wait until after the new year to revisit this. For now I'll just enjoy.

Thank you to all who have helped me along the way. I asked many questions that may have seemed trivial at times but I really wanted to be gentle to my new baby and not break a clip or scratch a panel. And of course, thank you for all of the great audio advice!

For now I will troll everyone else's threads and try to spend their money. ;)

Nice work man!
Im sure the tweeters have much more detail now...that's the biggest difference I heard when I switched from the dash to the sails...
2-way can sound very very nice when done properly which you have done...enjoy!

Thanks and yes they have much more detail. When I moved them to test, I instantly heard the difference and it was a no-brainer that they should have been there all along.

Originally by going in the dash I thought I could achieve a stealth install if you will and the highs would reflect off of the windshield and it would sound fine. Wrong! That deflection really hurt the quality.

I will say again for anyone who happens upon this thread, do not put your tweeters in the dash! ;)

Apparently I am bored and wanted to do something with my audio so since I am a drafter, this happened.

New toy just arrived. Any question to what I'll be playing with tonight? Besides the beer, ya know.

Oh, you can't see it under the cord but it did come with a tripod. Nice!
