So here’s my issue....

So sometimes my truck doesn’t want to start. Yesterday I tried getting in and nothing. Key fob will unlock and lock doors, but will not start. Today I get home and decide to check the connections on the gear knob (didn’t start before and that was the issue) and didn’t fix it. So I let it sit for a while and later this evening I tried to auto start and it started right up. Turned it off and turned it over with the key on and bam truck starts. Ran a couple errands, came home and parked it. Fast forward to 8:30 and auto start it, turns on, get in turn the key.... nothing. It stayed in auto start mode. I turn off the truck via the fob and try to turn over and nothing. So I’m stuck on what it is.... it starts with auto start but not by turning the key. I’m guessing it’s an ignition switch issue, but don’t know... anyone have similar issues? It’s a 2017 Ram 1500 lone star 4x4

Well update on this issue

I have been reading online and talked to a dealer today and they advised it is probably a bad WCM or WIN module. Which is also what I’m reading online. From what I see, it isn’t that expensive but will be in the shop for at least a day.... honestly have had nothing but issues with this truck and regret getting rid of my ‘12...

Has anyone else had any issues with their ‘17s?

***Update***

Had my truck towed to the dealer today... and found out what the issue was. Originally they said they could reprogram the keys for a few hundred. Then they called and told me that the audio shop that installed the amp and subs in my truck, took the RFH module off the body and zip tied it onto the wires they put in. So now it’s going to cost $717.22 on top of the $500 rental I have to pay for. I am already talking to the audio shop to cover the repairs and costs of this crap. Attached are photos or the truck being hauled off, the wonderful job the audio shop did, and and the ride I have. Honestly thinking about trading the ol rig in for one...2a74ab71142560d4f671a81834623b8e.jpg604cb870e83a1172be0baf2a1261287f.jpgf01adc794c20416ce23e882cfa3b35fe.jpg90a5ebd7a19fe99da7128f5f949c1a0b.jpg

This is why I'm hesitant about doing many mods or haveing someone do mods on my truck. Mechanical stuff ain't bad but when you get into the electrical stuff you really have to be careful what you're messing with. The way so much of this stuff is tied together now just the simplest mistake can cause major problems.
