Hello everyone,
I hauled a load of gravel in my 86 w250 this morning for a project.my Truck was running great the whole way. I backed down our hill, unloaded, and proceeded to drive back up. I had to put it in 4h to get up the hill. I got back on the street, put it in 2h and parked. Then, this afternoon, I took it to the store. Every time I slowed down to stop, right before I came to a stop, it would shudder and act like it was bogging down. Just driving though, it was perfectly normal. What would cause this? One of my guesses was the transfer case stuck in 4h. Would that be a potential culprit, and is there an easy way to find out if it's stuck in 4wd? If not, what else would cause it?
Thanks

Sounds like the torque converter is stuck in lockup mode. That's usually caused by low t fluid.

This kinda sounds like an ABS sensor issue to me. These are the exact symptoms.

My 81 and my son's 80 were both 4wd and had lockup.
For whoever said "ABS" can't be they didn't have it yet when the OPs truck was new.

Haha, yeah, my bad, I didn't even look at the truck year. It's kinda unusual for anyone to be asking questions about a '86 truck....not many of them left running............;)
