I believe what would of made this job a lot easier would of been maybe taking some of the brackets off the front of the engine that hold the ac compressor / that wheel well and tire off ..... I just worry that when those hard lines start getting moved around the seals tend to start leaking and I didn’t want to open up Pandora’s box

The new issue is the ebrake.... it works just when it’s released .... it seems released the truck rolls but the cable looks slightly like jump rope ..... something may be frozen in the rear brakes.... when I apply the ebrake it tightens up but it’s way loose released

It could just need to be tightened. Cables stretch over time. I know you don't want to hear this after all you've been through with the manifold bolts but you should remove both rear rotors and make sure the parking brake shoes are moving freely before adjusting the cable slack.

Good deal getting your manifold bolt issue fixed.

I know even though you are banged up a bit, you have a big weight lifted off you.

I haven’t done brakes yet 54k .... and I used the truck last week to put a boat in the water..... I only use the parking brake when I’m in the ramp I’m guessing that’s when it has gotten hung up

It's adjustable, but the back e-brake pads and hardware seem to get corroded and stick so that may also be the issue. If it's that it's a bit of a ***** to do the e-brake on the truck because it's tough to get hands in there around the axle hub. If you pop the rotors off though you may be able to free it up with some penetrating oil. Just use brake clean or similar when done and do your best not to coat the shoes. I bought some powerstop coated shoes last time my pads separated from corrosion. Time will tell if they fare better than the mopar pads. Since you don't use it much and it works I'd wait till my nerves reset from the last headache. This is nothing compared to the manifold though. So I'm confident you'll be able to do it.

That's why you need to pull the rotors and inspect it. The brake shoes and hardware are most likely rusted up.

Congratulations brother!
Feels good, don't it, knowing you kicked that bolt's ass and stayed under budget.

Sorry I berated you, that's just my way of motivating somebody, LOL!

Did you get a new tool out of it?

Oh, how did your driveway come out?

Yeah, that ain't right. Like folks said, pull both rotors and shoot some penetrating oil in there, both sides.

This may be a job for your big hammer. Start banging on stuff closest to the release. (Not hard enough to break something). Might just do the trick.
PS: Brakleen or similar to the pads when freed up. Duh.

Haha and the driveway came out beautiful went from a single driveway to a 2 into 1 ..... I installed the cobblestone edging before the paver came.... he wanted 2500 for that and I did that for 300...... before and afters

I actually haven’t had time to work on the truck this weekend but I wanted to move the truck in the driveway and before I did ..... I put the truck in reverse about 5 mph and stomped on the ebrake and then released it 3 times and the cable has tightened up ...... not all the way but a lot better haha I still need to look at it

If my old fuzzy brain remembers right, thats the way we used to adjust the old drum brakes on 60's and 70s cars...for sure on m6 69 Dodge Coronet 440. ...roll in reverse and stomp on the brakes..do that 3-4 times and presto!!

Exactly why I did it..... I feel like I remembered my uncle who was a car mechanic for over 30 years telling me this when I bought my first truck and we were doing brakes on it lol so funny

To adjust self adjusting brakes

Locate an area where you can drive the truck, while making frequent, quick stops. Place the truck in reverse and begin to drive backwards. After a few feet, press the brake pedal firmly to quickly stop the vehicle. Drive forward and repeat the rapid stop. Repeat the back and forth braking several times. This is what activates the self-adjusting mechanism on the brake shoes.

I guess doing that must have dislodged your E Brakes after being submerged in water at the boat ramp

Seems a little early for brakes. I would say just setting and then releasing the e-brake a few times loosened it up a bit. A little heat from using them for braking probably didn't hurt either.
