So have a kiddo that is turning 16 this year, so we are planning to give him my '18 Laramie Crew Cab Hemi. What that means for me is it is time to look for a new vehicle. But I can not decide on my best option. Am I going to be dissatified with the i6 or the eTorque Hemis? Just trying to decide which trims and options I should be considering and which ones to avoid.

I’d hold off on buying for a few months if you want a 1500 with a Hemi until you see which 2027 model trim levels will be getting the Hemi without etorque. As far as the Hurricane goes most people who have bought trucks with those engines have been happy with them.

I would say it depends on what you used your last truck for, and will it continue with the new one.

I had a 2025 with the I6 and liked the power and tranny combination. It had the 3.55 rear end. I have a 23 F150 with the 3.5 EB and 3.73 rear end, the Ram would pull just as hard to get around vehicles as the F150.

Gas milage was better on the Ram, over my F150.

If you are towing the standard I6 has a better tow capacity.

I would not be scared of the I6, if it would meet your needs.

I had a lower trim Big Horn, so I am not sure of the upper trims.

I did get rid of the Ram in 11 months and replaced it with another F150. The reasons had nothing to do with engine or tranny, but customer service, bought the wrong truck for my needs/use, and a lot of little issues.

I'd get a hurricane before an e torque, but that's me.

Rumble Bees will be sold soon, like within 5 months buy October they say. Even the entry level rumble bee will be the isht. Hemi no e torque and sweet street trucks. Like entry level 60k, imo it will likely win truck of the year but who knows that is political. But the best deal on the best truck anywhere?

Thanks for the info. I am not in a hurry currently, have until October when he turns 16.

This is my daily driver, our family trip truck, and it gets used to pick up mulch, landscaping, DIY materials for stuff around the house.

What are you looking to do with the truck? What trims are you interested in? Towing (and if so, how much, how often)? Off-road, pavement king?

Yeah, should have put that in the original post. Mainly looking Laramie, Limited, Limited Longhorn, and Tungsten.

So yes, it is primarily a pavement king, but my 18 has 135K miles on it so far, so we do use it for everything. I pull a motorcycle trailer for my son on occasion. And it has had a ton of landscape rock in the back a couple of times, along with yearly mulch, potting soil, etc.

Wait for the 2027 and get whichever Hemi works for U (options) without E Torque. IMHO. The new Rumble may even have a 6.4 under the hood. But U gotta look and decide wat meets yer needs just get Non E Tq Hemi.

That sounds like a perfect use case for the Rumble Bee models. :D

We have a lot of similarities here. I handed down my 2015 Laramie to my son.
I use my new truck about like you. Pull my Polaris General 4 seater around and haul similar stuff around in the bed, etc.
One thing to note, the Laramie of old ain’t the same as the Laramie of new. They don’t even have leather seats anymore.
I didn’t go with the Tungsten because I’m not a chrome fan. The Limited Longhorn just wasn’t my cup of tea with the cost of upgraded leather, so I “settled” on the Limited Night Edition (it also has the Off-road Group), and it’s a great looking ride that’s fun to drive. No regrets

You may want to also look at the RHO’s or even wait to see what these new lines of performance trucks bring to the table.

You sound very active. For that reason, avoid eTorque at all costs.

Anything else should be ok. If you want to tow heavy and frequently, I would wait for the Hemi.

Wow - that's a real setback, removing leather seats from Laramie. Most comfortable seats I've ever had in any vehicle - perfect for my decrepit body.

The move I drive the Hurricane in my '26 Ram Laramie, the more I like it. Smooth strong power. I had 2 Hemi's prior to this truck and don't miss that engine at all. Gas mileage is the same on the highway at 20 - 21, Getting around 14 city compared to 11-12 in my '16 Ram Hemi.

Sorry I live under a rock at times, but the Laramie does not come with leather anymore? Just wondering what year that started?

Are you sure about that? I haven't been to a dealership to look, and I know the ramtrucks.com build tool sometimes contains mistakes. But when I look at the standard features for the Laramie, ramtrucks.com says it has Leather-Trimmed bucket seats, and they look the same as the seats I had in my 2020 Laramie. The only difference I can see is the passenger seat is no longer 8-way power adjustable. But they are still heated and ventilated.

There was a time when the Laramie was the top trim level. The Limited relegated the Laramie to second place. Then the Laramie Longhorn (now called Limited Longhorn) bumped the Laramie to third. When the Rebel came out in 2016 it was placed just below the Laramie, but was generally considered an equal trim level in the pricing schema, but is currently above the Laramie. Now we have the Tungsten and RHO. The Laramie currently lives in the bottom half of the line-up. Even the Limited has fallen to third place, barely ahead of the RHO.

Option price creep. Sneaky.

My '26 has the leather trimmed seats. Back seats recline. Power 8 way passenger seat. Heated and ventilated front, heated rear.. All standard. No extra package needed for the seat features.
There are some expensive cars and trucks now coming standard with fake leather. It probably wears better than leather.
I would have bought the Big Horn but you can't get a power passenger seat with cloth seats, which I actually prefer.

Man, it looks like you’re right. I must be losing my mind. I swear back in January my brother was looking at some limiteds and they weren’t leather seats. It doesn’t look like they’re ventilated though, unless I’m still losing my mind. Haha
Sorry for the mistake

Yep, just looked at some build sheets. I’m not COMPLETELY losing it. He was looking at the 2500’s, they’re not ventilated but the 1500’s are. Kinda odd
