Sorry if I’m missing something but I tried searching. Links are appreciated.

I have a stock 2018 Ram1500 Tradesman Express with in coil airbags, leveling kit and 33’s. I tow a 6900# TT. Is there a plug and play tuner that might help me out that doesn’t require a modified pcm or other aftermarket parts? Truck is under warranty and I don’t want to void it. More stuff will come once the warranty expires.

Thanks!

Depends on what you want to tune? You can install the Pedal Commander and that will help your throttle response and it has several levels of settings depending on what you are doing with the truck (like towing or just cruising and want slightly better gas mileage, or want more power for fun) but it’s mainly for throttle response. Lots of guys in here have it and love it. It’s not a true tuner in the sense of having multiple settings in the PCM modified like a DiabloSport tuner would do.

A Pedal Commander makes the driving much more fun. You can buy an unlocked PCM, have it tuned, and anytime you go in for warranty work hope you don't get flagged. But if you value warranty, do bolt on things that wont hamper the tuning, IMHO.

An Edge Pulsar is worth consideration when maintaining warranty is a concern. Not as capable as a custom tuner but capable enough.

I had the same concerns. I went with the pulsar which actually plugs into the PCM directly and can be removed easily. Supposedly will not leave a digital footprint. It offers 4 settings and then a variation of each setting with MDS disabled. Very noticeable difference in performance in the upper settings. Some of it is throttle response and supposedly can increase HP by up to 30.

Another thing to consider is smog regulation/inspection. I don't know what the laws are in Oregon but here in CA you have to have a CARB E.O. number or you're screwed.

Thanks for the info everyone. Sounds like Pulsar is the way to go for stock tuning. Where I’m at in Oregon we have to smog unless I move out of city limits.
