If its in the wrong section can someone please help out with that thanks

OK so the only reason I have not tuned my truck and done more to it performance wise is I can't tune my truck. I have a DS predator but when I first hooked it up and tried to put on a tune it said tune already on vehicle ( its a pretty owned truck) I get off work to late everyday to try diablo and the dealership wants 150 I don't mind the cost but they also told me since it has a diablo tune on it it might basically kill it if I try to flash it back to stock settings and then 900 for a new computer is what they told me if it did. Basically is this true or are they BSing me

You need to pay Diablow to clear that tuner from the previous vin, then it should work on your truck however there is always a risk with PCM issues when using a tuner regardless of brand.

So it's never been tuned to your truck? I had a problem with my superchips I had trans problem removed the tuner took it to te dealer but when I got the truck back an tried to put the tune back on it was vin locked. Superchips fixed it for me but said I have to make sure it was returned to stock, I figured since it said the tuner was unlocked an the truck was back to stock tuning I did it right but something of superchips was left in the PCM, diablow should be able to take care of you

Did you buy the tuner used? It sounds like the previous owner never returned their vehicle to stock "unlocking" the tuner. If this is the case you have to call Diablo and pay whatever fee they charge to unlock the previous owners vin from the tuner.

It sounds like you are just misenterpreting the error message? If there is indeed a tune on your truck (not likely unless you put it there) the dealership reflashing your computer to stock shouldnt hurt anything. It sounds like they are BSing you and/or trying to take you for a ride. Like i said though if you bought the tuner used that error just means that someone tuned their truck and then sold you a useless tuner.

i had that issue on another vehicle. try installing another tune..say if you're going for the performance tune, try installing the mpg tune. once installed, return it to stock. now you can go any which way with it. if the previous owner has installed the same diablo canned tune you're trying to load, it'll keep giving you that error.

also, before installing anything..do make sure that you go into options and chose your vehicle type first.

this SHOULD work, not a 100% because i did this with an SCT X3 when i had a mustang.

I've emailed them but they said I have to have my computer and all that and I can't use my jobs internet for that with my luck they would lock it out half way through the process and I get off work to late to go home and try

And that's when I tried the dealership because there like 15mins from my job

As far as the software I think its the newest one not to positive on that one but it did that since the day I bought it so I doubt its the software

Also thank you to who ever moved my thread to the right away place

The previous owner maybe had a tune on the truck and never removed it.

yes this is probably what happened.... but i would take it to the dealer to get re-flashed back to stock, then if the pcm craps out on them, they can fix it. once flashed to stock you can tune it with your predator

Ya but I have no more warranty on the truck and never bought any extended or anything so the coat of a new computer if it were to go out would be on me and that's why i didn't go ahead and get it reflashed that day and its my daily with no other vehicle to drive

Might just want to hold off till you know you can absorb any potential problems with reflashing or playing around with it yourself. Buying a new ECU would suck.

I just dont see how the dealership flashing it to stock would hurt it. If you are worried about a reflash to stock burning up the pcm why arent you concerned about hooking up a tuner and flashing the computer with a performance tune?

I definitely get why you would be hesitant about screwing up the pcm and having to replace it with no warranty but you are just as likely if not more, to mess it up than the dealership. Flashing a stock tune to a truck should not hurt it at all especially in the hands of an experienced dealer tech. I know the one you went to is close but I would go somewhere else if they are telling you they could ruin your pcm.

Well at first it was for a canned tune but now its to custom tune it so I can use the nitrous with out leaning out and so I can put on my headers to tune them all together
