Seen a few threads of lifters going bad on hemis, is this very common?
Would turning MDS off with a tuner help with longevity of the engine as
it wont constantly switch between 4 and 8 cylinders?

I've also seen some of the same posts regarding cylinder misfire and lifters in the 5.7 hemi 2500 trucks which don't have mds, so it's probably not necessary mds issue.

None of the posts anywhere mention that mds is at fault, In general, the best guess and consensus is that hemi probably has lower quality parts and lifters with low quality control.

Reasonable hypothesis, but I don't believe it is only the MDS lifters that and take out the cam.

I turned mine off and couldn’t be happier.
Truck drives soo much smoother now.
If it helps with longevity, even better.
I only lost about .2 mpg (I drive mostly city and rural roads).

I think mine was turned of by the previous owner.
I can't tell if MDS is on o off as there is no difference in sound or behaviour
and i could not find a way to verify it's function.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I drive on tow/haul 24/7. It becomes second nature to press t/h when I start the truck. Factory **** points just suck balls, and mds is a joke. If by chance you go on a long trip, it is as easy as not pushing the t/h button if you think that will give you better mpg's. I have no doubt someday the gov't will ban tow/haul, and tuners. I believe they already have banned the use of tuners? Obama certainly tried too.

On my 2017 Tow/Haul does not take out MDS. If you use the manual shift buttons it will take it out. Tow/Haul would be much quicker! They must have changed settings???
