U11E9 Error Code will not go away - AGS

Hi All,

So I keep getting this stupid U11E9 error message. I took my truck to the dealer and they tested the Active Grill Shutter and it worked fine. They cleared the codes and sent me on my way. 24hrs later the same error message is popping up again. So I am taking it back to the dealership again. So what could be causing this problem? Anyone experience this before?

The BCM has nothing to do with the active grill shutter. Completely controlled by the PCM.

i did have my PCM replaced a year ago because it went bad.

Will it cause serious problems if not addressed immediately?

This code pops in when the PCM does not receive a valid Local Interconnect Network BUS message from the Active Grill Shutter Assembly for 2.6 seconds. In short, check with the wirings. It might be having loose connections or ends.

No it’s not bad for the truck as long as the shutters aren’t stuck closed. You will have a CEL and the cruise won’t work.

I replaced the active grille shutter myself last year due to this code and yup it's back again about a year later. It's a dose replacing it btw. Very awkward replacement and snapped a few trim clips. 2019 Ram. Now that's the error is back with this replacement unit I suspect it's something else like the PCM. Breaks my heart having to bring this to the dealership for $$$ diagnosis and head scratching. From experience I haven't a lot of faith in the guys at my local dealership. Not even allowed to disable this unnecessary part. Will fail state inspection here in MA I believe. Any other possible fix? How much is a replacement PCM? Is it a DIY job? Thanks

Never hurts to clean all 5-7 grounds.. even if they look good remove and clean with wire wheel. I’ve fixed a few different random codes by just cleaning grounds.

Just saw this. How do you go about cleaning grounds. This is not something I know much about. Strange that the replacement Active Grille Shutter was good for a year and now I'm back to the U11E9 error again. At this rate I'll have to pay Dodge Dealer $2k pa to replace it. Not sure if they can just remove it or turn it off given it's not actually needed. Pity it'll fail State Inspection because of it. Thanks.

There's some wiring possibilities out in the front of the truck, I saw it on youtube or somewhere earlier, so you just have to search.
